villain is profitable player with plenty of games under his belt but can be little unorthodox at times. Call or fold on flop? Should I have just made my decision preflop whether or not to go with the hand or is peeling ok here?

I think peeling is just about OK here, assuming we are peeling not to hit the J but to get Mr Unorthodox to do something unorthodox and play for stacks.

I call, expect to be racing still more often than not. If you're not racing then you better hope there are still 2 jacks left in the deck

Assuming you peeled because villains range is wider than KK+ I think flop is a call. Wouldn't expect any Qx to jam the flop like this.
