Im no expert but the one thing i picked up on was that on the turn your raise was not big enough... you were giving him 5:1 odds for him to call the raise whereas if u raised larger you may have got him off it becuase he only had a gutshot to aim for. if i was him and u raised big on the turn i dont think i could call.
    Only my opinion =)

Thank you very much for your reply
The reason for this post was something in the back of my mind said i had done something wrong but could not see it.
It is so obvious now you have pointed it out
You are correct, I did not look at the pot size before making the raise as you said, i was trying to value bet cos i could not put him on 10 Q but gave him odds to call, should have made it more expensive to hit the gutt shot..
    Thank you
    Gary

I am afraid that i fold on the flop because i dont like chasing gutshots...

also the 8 of spades could be a killer card if someone has a good flush draw...

once you hit your turn card you didnt do too much wrong imo although i might make the rr slightly bigger but i want to keep my customer so i wouldnt bet too big.

Yes def fold on flop, you only have 3 clean outs. 800ish on turn for me.

    Hi Greg
    Thanks for your reply
As you can see from the betting it was a very passive table, very few pre-flop raises but a lot of calling stations
I probably should not have called on the flop as you said, but had position
i was already thinking of making a move from the button if i got a piece of it
When it did hit i think i did not bet enough to get him to lay it down in relation to the pot size
although obviously i was trying value bet, i should not have given him/her the chance to catch up.

    A bit
    fishy huh

you dont want him to lay it down m8, you want him to call your rr on the turn cos you are way ahead.

you were ul that he hit his redraw on the river, but you were lucky that you hit your gutshot in the first place.

dont mind the flop call if you had a plan to take the pot down on a later street if you didnt hit

    Hi Guys
Appreciate all your comments and i am logging all of them, there are some great players on this site and i can only improve by taking notice of your views.
This would cost me a fortune with Nick Wealthall

    Gary

P.S I think they are showing 2 other hands i mucked up on the club tommorow.
I think i did a simular thing as tonite in 1 hand and that is another reason i posted this.

Personally i wouldn't be calling pre flop with these cards to be honest, i can see that your getting odds but still, just not for me.

I also agree with the others about folding on the flop, one of the first things i was taught when i first started was to never chase an inside draw but that's just the way i am, a nit lol.

After the turn though it was just an unlucky re draw. That's the way it goes sometimes. Unlucky to not get paid in the end.

3 clean outs make him, what, 10% to win the pot? Is the pot likely to exceed 1400 at the end?
Maybe the 140 call wasn't a bad one at all. It would depend on whether there were likely to be further callers or a raise from behind.
