Been away a while...Poker gods were smiling with my very first hand back

Obviously flopping quads first hand in a SNG is nice but with no overcards on the board and no knowledge on opponent I really didnt think I would gain many chips. Luckily I kept them in the pot and they improved. Even had a bit of sweat on the river call as I no longer had the nuts.

    Welcome back mate.

@Matt - Yup would have made me laugh too and was kind of expecting it - certainly had me sweating for a split second when I was called without much hesitation.

@Teddy - cheers - looking forward to getting back on the tables and the forum - easing myself in and hope to set myself a challenge and diary it.

River shove is bad against anyone good because their folding Ah and since we block top FH they're only ever going to have a FH that is far from the best (88/99 is beaten by any QJ/Q9/Q8/) j/k ofc :) be interesting though if we were deeper and we raised river and got 3-bet!!

Well thanks Ivano - you can always make me double take on what I thought was a standard hand. Are you suggesting a small raise is better because you get stronger players to call, who would be folding to the all-in?

When shoving, I was of course hoping opponent had Ah or any F/H and would call. I would back some players even at low levels to fold Ah, although how many of said "good players" would be chasing a flush down the streets after a paired flop? - and I certainly dont see many F/H folds in low stake SNGs.

As stated this is 1st hand so I am in a knowledge vacuum. I went for trying to extract the maximum value versus the small risk of running into Th and the balance of probability was I felt in favour of getting a call from a weaker player than folding out a strong player whom I could have got more value from.

I hope we agree calling has to be weak and leaving a lot of potential value untapped with what has just become the 2nd nuts.

Raising to squeeze a bit of value doesnt feel right to me. How many players with what hands would call a raise but not an allin? Then there is the thought of getting shoved on which isn't pretty given I am not expecting a bluff in that spot and like you say we have the top F/H blocked but can we really fold there?
