25BB UTG AK passive shorty UTG+1. raise or best to ship my stack?

edited September 2014 in The Poker Clinic
the shorty on my table at the time was a one of them who would be a bit of a problem because he is very loose so will want to see lots of flops, i could raise and he will just call it, of the others who are on the table the only one i have any idea of is the player OTB.
When the blinds were 40/80 i raised in the CO (240) pre, he was sitting in the SB and calls with K7 there was a player in the BB with 415 chip (5BB) so maybe he was calling because of the chance of a bounty, but the BB on that occasion folded (he had been knocked out by the time this hand came). so he might call a shove i make here.

The person in the SB is one who has limped into pots frquently so does like to see them.
tanj i think knew what he/she was doing.

Just raise as normal (2x for me), if he calls, so what, that's good, he probably has a worse hand and quite often us dominated

Raise (standard size) and go from there?

    We want the action.

Agree you definitely want action here and a 2 or 2.5x raise will hopefully get you that

    1 passive/short caller is a great situation.

If you get shoved on then great you may be racing but could well be dominating.

Also likely that with action before and a decent hand the bigger stacks will be r/r or even shoving pre.

Too good a hand at 23BB to shove and probably only take the blinds. Your description of table action would suggest the table isn't all-in crazy.

Don't get paranoid about AK. We tend to remember the times we get busted with it - but we win a lot with it too and we cast into distant memory all the times we raise pre and take down a pot uncontested with A high and a c/bet.

This is the most standard clinic post of all time!

Craig, if you're having problems playing post flop out of position v stationy villains, then post those spots instead of this......

Don't make a bad play pre flop and justify it by saying you're trying to avoid a tough spot post flop.

i did make the standard raise and as expected they called
    Q.
Ok i did get a good flop here but had the flop been Q high or smaller do i just ship it?

It all depends, as I've said before, there are NO set rules for anything.

QT8cc is not the same as Q72r is it?

Certain flops we cbet, certain flops we give up. If he mindonkbets, I'm pretty much never folding, it's just either flat with everything that missed, or raise for value if I think I can.

Why do we have to shove at all? Would you shove Q86r when we have AA when you have more than twice the size of the pot behind? no, so why consider it with AK
