Hello All,
As you all know, we really value customer feedback here at Sky Poker and we want to make sure that any changes we intend to make reflect the interest of our players.
This being said I would appreciate some feedback in regards to the current Sky Poker website. In particular looking at the content available to you onsite. We are looking into making amendments to the main tabs at the top of the page and the content within them.
Currently the tabs are:
Home - Cash Games - Sit & Go - Tournaments - Community - Find A Player - My Sky Poker - Promotions - TV - How To Play - Casino
Currently there is a lot of mixed information under the 'How To Play' tab. We would like to add a new tab and split the relevant information in the correct sections on the site. Below are the tabs we would ideally like to change it to:
Home - Cash Games - Sit & Go - Tournaments - Community - Find A Player - My Sky Poker - Promotions - Welcome - Academy - TV - Casino
I did try to add a picture but they were too tiny to see!
The 'Welcome' tab would host information such as 'Opening an Account, Using the Poker Lobby, Sky Poker App...etc.' The 'Academy' tab would be a more refined edition of the current 'Poker School' that we have. We would introduce a section for Neil Channing on here and encourage players to 'Graduate from the Sky Poker Academy.' This would involve using various learning tools that we are looking to implement in the near future such as 'Poker Quizzes, Strategy Videos, Strategy Blogs, TV Clips..etc.'
Would this be something that would be of interest to you? Do the names 'Welcome' and 'Academy' reflect the information that is going to be under them?
Also, what would you like to see in the Sky Poker Academy? What content would you find engaging?
Any feedback on ideas for names or content would be greatly appreciated and will be used to make a decision going forward.
Any questions please pop them on here and I'll do my best to answer them.
Many Thanks,
Kirsty

its a bit shabby to include that casino tab
My boss thinks i live at a YMCA :-)))
I think you could get rid of the white bar at the top which contains:
My Account
Deposit
Withdraw
Bonuses
My Profile.
These could be added to the "My Sky Poker" drop down box.
Could free up more space at the top of the page?
As for the other Sky products being advertised , perhaps these could be under just a single tab labelled "Other Sky Products"
Also I'm all for a Sky Academy tab promoting Neil Channing. The more people who see him associated with Sky Poker the better.
Currently there seems to be a different action depending on which tab you go to with no visible feedback on what is a button and what is a menu heading. This is inconsist and and shows no affordance.
So for example all the tabs are essentially buttons except My Sky Poker and Casino which are actually Menu Headings with a dropdown that only appears once you hover over the tab. Clicking the tab does nothing.
If you are going to redesign the layout I'd go for something like this:
Home - Cash Games - Sit & Go - Tournaments - Community V - Find A Player - My Sky Poker V - Promotions - FAQ V - Academy V - TV - Casino V
Each of the V's represents a down arrow at the end of a tab to identify this as a Menu heading with drop down options.
You suggested Welcome as a heading but that doesn't really say what it is or entice the player to click it. Welcome, yeah, thanks, if I click it does it give me a personalised greeting from the Grandfather of Sky Poker, i.e. tikay, or more preferably you, Sky Kirsty? ;-)
I would title it either FAQ or How Do I? both explain what you expect to see when you go there, answers to questions you may have.
Not entirely sure about Academy either, is Poker School or Sky Poker School a better title. Although there will be some mixed content under it from what you said. There also appears that there would be crossover between what's under here and what would be under Community since blogs could appear in both.
Speaking of Community, this should be a dropdown. Currently when you click it it takes you into the Community (i.e. the forum) with 4 other teeny-tiny options in the top right: Home Forum Blogs MyProfile. All 3 of those are redundant if you can make the Community tab a dropdown. The Home option currently does the same as the Home tab or clicking the big Sky Poker picture. The Forum option takes you to the same place as clicking the Community tab. The Blogs option takes you to the same place as the proposed dropdown Blogs would take you. Finally MyProfile should be a either an option under Community or under the My Sky Poker dropdown.
The whole blogs section needs rethinking, it's virtually impossible to find any blog more than a few months old. Try and find a blog from tikay from Vegas 2013 for instance or one of Orfords (only to see if you can, obviously nobody wants to read one of Orfords blogs!).
OK, maybe those were bad examples because I found those on the lower left section of the Community page under The Official Skypoker.com Blog and Orford's Odyssey but the general point still stand that most blogs get lost after a short while. Lot's of forum members wrote blogs that can never be found again, even by the author.
While looking for these I went to Community --˃ Blogs (in the top right) --˃ scroll down and under the heading Fantastic Blogs I clicked The Home of Blogs and it took me to a page with a single link on it.
Hope you don't think I'm being rude, I am trying to be constructive!
Lost track of what I was going to say next so I'll finish with the Academy / Poker School tab.
At the moment any poker tutorial information is very hard to find by navigating around the site. I'm sure there are some PLO / PLO8 instructions somewhere on the site but couldn't find them to direct someone to them the other night as they joined the wrong type of DYM.
Going to the How to Play tab takes you to a page with 7 options across the top and 8 option down the side and some of these aren't related to How to Play and actually navigate you away from the How to Play section.
There is some really information and videos under the How to Play --˃ Sky Poker Strategy section but it's so well hidden behind + symbols and expanding menu options nobody is going to find it.
But other than that everything is fine.
:-)
