I know you say if your guna call that turn you gotta call the river, but he tends to check back with showdown or a marginal hand so IMO he either has trips 8s or a busted FD? He re raises any big PP pre and 1010 JJ (which he could flat with) will check back?

    any thoughts

Is it being too nitty to say that 99 could be a fold pre-in this spot?  Seems pretty spew if the original raiser 4 bets and if you end up playing the flop heads-up then you are only getting around 10/1 odds if you stack button (with the possibility of losing a few quid on boards like this vs TT+)

Would also be worth leading out on the turn yourself? I assume the biggest PP aren't out when it checks round on the flop, so 99 could figure to be the best hand a lot of the time and therefore a bet could get value / protect against allowing a free overcard to hit on the river.

As it is, I'd suggest that your hand is fairly face up to the oppos here so, in a 4-way pot, they aren't likely to be getting too creative.  I give credit for them having an 8... at a push maybe something like AQs that took a punt on the turn but then figures to be ahead on the river.

    Calling pre is a mistake.

Now your here river is a fold imo.

Fold pre.. or if the guy has been 3 betting really light from the button then you can probably 4 bet for value. But in a vaccuum then id be folding especially considering you are in the small blind as well
