Brrrrrrrr Regarding your initial results table think the people in profit have all got £1 more than they should have i.e. £1 on a 7/2 returns £4.50 but is £3.50 profit. Posted by SAV4BP
The table is correct but maybe profit should be labelled "returns". if we all walked In The bookies with a pound, placed bets, watched race, walked out after collecting our winnings (or not) the table is accurate

I see what you mean about the profit column. I've changed it to Total and can amend again if needed - I'll check with Vaigret to clarify things.
It's an imaginary £1 bet and if this week you didn't win you are -£1, but if you do win in the same way if you went into a bookies, you would get your £1 stake back.
That's my reasoning and to be honest as long as it's consistent for the whole competition, that should be ok.

Although looking at the guys who had non-runners shouldn't they get their £1 stake back?
Wasnt having a go at Brrrrrr just think when he checks with father he based it on "profit" not returns. As long as it is consistent throughout that is fine and i concur with thanks for Brrrrrr for volunteering to run this

They are listed as essentially ZERO, they don't get a minus score for a lose bet but if they actually kept a £1, someone could go the entire competition deliberately picking non runners and end with a 'profit' of £15 and be in with a chance of winning so it just counts as a zero for that week

I didn't think you were having a go at all Sav, it's the first week, any queries welcomed.
Pete it should be profit not returns and therefore the people with winners should have their totals reduced by a £1.
reason
A- Kiwi won £3.50 B -bazzer didn't lose anything C- powell lost a £1
In your table difference between A 4.50 and B 0.00 = 4.50 is therefore wrong In your table difference between A 4.50 and C minus £1 = 5.50 is therefore wrong in your table difference between B 0.00 and C minus £1 = 1.00 which is right
two wrongs don't make a right so The only way you can get all differences right is to take the £1 extra you have given the winners.
That's why all Naps table are done on profit. It is the only way to do it without getting completely confused.
Apart from that and I didn't spot , marvellous job

Thanks for clearing that up Terry...i will amend table in opening post and if you can just check it to ensure its okay that would be appreciated. And then hopefully we should be all set for week two!
This Saturday's racing kicks off at 1.25pm at Wincanton so this week's deadline for selections will be 1pm, technically it should be 12.55pm but i'm generous so i'm giving you all an extra five minutes!!
I have to be out most of Saturday but will get to a computer just before the deadline to make sure all entries are logged and posted on the opening post before all the racing gets underway and will then post an updated league table when I can on Saturday night.
Good luck everyone...one decent selection could put you in the lead!
