How to best play two pair (hidden)

First post so quick hello to you all.
I'm hoping to get some help with the hand that is the bane of my life at the moment. I just can't seem to win a pot with two pair (hidden) after the flop. How do others this. So far my AA QQ has been beaten by trips when I bet very heavily before and after the flop and worse are the high / low pairs KK 44 - the board keeps pairing over my low cards and inevitably I am beaten.
I have lost more money / chips with this problem than any other hand probably because I keep thinking its stronger than it really is and bet too heavily. Any help and advice you guys can give me will be really appreciated.
