I have been playing on the site over the recent weeks and I am surprised how much I am enjoying it.
Admittedly I am not the greatest playing, in fact probably one of the worse but I really have found that the players on the site are really nice people to play with, accompanied by the show on 681, what more could a new player want when looking to get into poker a little seriously. It really does seem to be a one-off community.
Emailed the show last night to thank TIKAY for giving a bit of advice that really connected with my play, and me, only to be read out live... I couldn’t believe it.
Well a little about me... I am 32 living in the Essex with 3 beautiful children and a fiancée that really looks after me. I have always enjoyed poker, often playing at the local casino, playing cash, normally (1.1)
never was a serious thing, something to do whilst enjoying some cold beers.
I have played a few live Tourneys but never done any good, mainly due to inexperience etc.
Hopefully I am going to try and learn a little more, starting from the beginning and slowly work my way up, hopefully shake off all the bad habits.
Though I am sure I’m picking up new ones…
My goal is to become a better tournament player, I have set a goal, I must win a big tournament in one year.
Also any advice that you guys have, be it you have played along side me and can see terrible play, or tells or anything, feel free to let me know.
Anyways that’s my story; hopefully see you on the tables.

Welcome and good luck.
The community is by and large the best thing about this site imo, especially when you add the effort the sky team and especially Tikay make to engage with the players.
Has its occasional off moments of course but that's just life I guess.
What sort of tourneys are you playing?
I would recommend 6max over this weekend as it is "double reward points" SNGs count but MTTs don't. They are a great place to learn tournament strategy from early play through to Heads up and there is less variance than MTTs.
I am biased mainly because they are the format I am consistently profitable in, however DYMs, cash and MTTs all have their merits and fans.

..lots of good info there!
From the hands we played on mastercash last night you are far from being one of the worst players on the site - I don't think you have much that would need improving to stop you being a regular winner at those levels. You seem to have a reasonable grasp for the power of position and raise rather than limp... that's already better than most at the micro stakes!!
Just remember that when you play hhyfyrtdr, he's a massive nit and you should always fold to his river bets because it's always the nuts
Well as I am not up there with the short hand names, I will go with a simple term lol.
I am mainly playing the Bounty Hunters; I enjoy the 12k one that is offered and some of the smaller ones. Normally paying no more than the £5 +0.50 buy ins.
(I think I like a more aggressive game)
I think the Sit and Go’s will defiantly be active this weekend, naturally I will be loitering around them for the double rewards.
As I am new I generally play one cash table 0.5 - 0.10 and then as above a £5.50.
As you would expect I am not in profit, however I am starting to come 10th etc, which I am sure in turn will improve.
Always seem to just miss the pay table in the tourneys.
Trying to focus on pot odds and pot building atm, also trying to STOP playing bingo.
Lastnight was an enjoyable game, I did notice the player you mention was playing tight, he also seemed like a really nice person.
Thanks for your feedback too, as previously mentioned, I have some idea or what to do, and what might other are doing to me... like the double bluff moment
That will come in very handy...
Great to see you here Matt.
Any questions, fire away.
And remember, in poker, we don't wait to hit, we make things happen, here.......
If we want to just wait until we hit, best place to go is.....
Loved your note last night (thank you), & intro today. Don't suppose you'll make enough to retire (I'm still trying, lol) but you'll have a bunch of fun.
Enjoy the Double Points weekend, too. I'm all revved up, ready for 5pm sharp.
Check you PMs young man - probly too late now though
I've sent a note upstairs, but it may be too late, if so, it will be next Friday.
Keep an eye on the Lobby though, we might be in time.
Sincere apologies, my bad.
Trev,
Will be sorted for TONIGHT.
Big thanks to "Sky Lee".
Tight AND nice? That's a monster double barrel bluff.....sure you can get it through?
Regarding MTT's.....meh. I love tournaments but they can be a pain at times. Volume, where possible, is the key. Sometimes sneaking into the money can be satisfying, but generally it's best to try and chip up approaching the bubble. Pick on the right stacks and the right players. Whilst a wreckless bluff would be ICM madness just short of the money, picking good spots to apply pressure is the best way to accumulate chips with a little less risk.
Learning wise, for me I think I am better just playing to gain the experince. I have read some books a while back (years) tbh forgot most of that I reckon.
Just keen to learn more without making all the mistakes...
Thanks for the welcome.
