went from consistnet winnings day by day to losing 350 BB in 2 days..

edited April 2015 in The Poker Clinic
not sure whether its because my game was bad from the start and was just lucky, or ive had few big bad beats as only being playing properly last couple weeks each day.

example.. is this too loose play? as this guy is quite aggressive but this play threw me.

I would kill to lose less than 4 buy ins over 2 days!

really?? haha well you probably play a lot more frquently and with moe tables than me! i play 2 tables for around an hour a day at the same time and thats it! so to lose 350BB in 4 tables in 2 hours isnt great! or is it quite common to lose big chunks of buy ins every so often?

I record all my results so just going to select some days at random. All results for this are from nl4.

    09/03/2015 1 hr -£4.12
    10/03/2015 50 mins -£10.27
    15/03/2015 2 hrs £22.22
    24/03/2015 1hr 40mins -£7.30
    25/03/2015 2hr 30 mins £10.11
    26/03/2015 2hrs -£15.52

These are just a selection of my shorter sessions with swings here and there.

To lose 3.5 buy ins in a short amount of hands is more than standard. I know on at least 2 of the above session i ranted in a group to the extent they probably could have happily shot me. But its pretty standard.

I wouldn't necessarily say this is loose is he's aggressive BUT when he shoves like that it's going to be ak or 66-jj a lot, so you are flipping or dominated. In other words, there are better spots. Depending on notes I have come across a lot of players at low stakes who shove ak over raises/3bets. Maybe they don't know how to play it post flop if they miss lol.

Hope you get some " run good" soon

thansk so much guys for the help with the hand and reassuring me over variance! as ive never had such a poor run in such a small space of time! getting all in with trip 10s on the flop (nuts) and the guy have pocket As and hitting one of his 2 outs on the turn was a hard one to take!! haha im glad it happens to the best of us (if you know what i mean)

I'm not much of a cash game player but there's definitely going to be ups and downs, ESPECIALLY if your going all in with hands preflop, then there's going to be more variance. If your unsure preflop folding will lead to less ups and downs. Against a guy going all in a lot you can easilly call, but if he's doing it for the first time be more cautious. Maybe take a note of what hands you see people go all in preflop with whenever you see it so you can be more confident on what to call with.
