poor play/too aggressive or bad beat/forgone conclusion?

edited May 2015 in The Poker Clinic
advice on this hand would be good. i do think the 4 bet may be uneccesary pre, but dont think its terrible play. let me know if you think this hand is worthy of a bad beat story, or a poor play learn from your mistakes kinda hand!

it was played abit too aggressive, what you need to do before jamming the turn is ask yourself what hands will I be calling with on that flop when taking into account the agression played pre especially when you have got the Ad yourself?

Thanks for posting it. Yeah now you say that only hand I'm beating is AQ or poss KQ but unlikely. Just thought cause there was a big side pot also you would be playing more aggressively to steal the main pot and have less opposition for side. Is that a bad mindset to be coming from? And I thought that small stakes players were more loose so players would go all in with poor two pair in this hand

although we had a side pot, that wasn't created until the call is made on the flop. the only pot made when you cbet all the cash in before cbetting can be won by he who shoved.

nl4 does contain loads of loose players, what you'll generally see happening is they limping things, if they make an opening raise, it's a premium or semi premium hand most days, they'll never be doing it with A6o, QJo or 92dd, If they were to raise this stuff,  there maniacs, who'll then do a shove preflop or call it pre and jam it on a flop when they've hit.

I actually think his play would be fine against 90% of nl4 players. Shoot me if I'm way off the mark but that would be my view from the limited amount of experience I have playing there.
