Is a sporting pundit. My favourite story about said pundit is as follows:

....In 2004 he is heavily on the Celebrity Poker TV circuit and is a completely new player, and is put into a big event at the Vic casino by a TV company. Also playing is the then current WSOP Winner Chris Moneymaker, flown across at great expense by the sponsors to give the event oomph etc etc

 

Well as luck would have it pundit and Moneymaker are drawn at the same table.

 

A big hand goes off and after much betting and raising the board reads A-K-Q-J-10 no flushes possible. Pundit bets the river, Moneymaker raises all in aware that neither can beat the board. Pundit folds trip Aces face up and announces

 

"No, I can't beat the board, you win"

Stirling Moss?

He retired after a dreadful crash at Crystal Palace on Easter Monday in about 1962, I think. I wuz there.

Did you know he won 40% of all races he entered - & he entered over 500?

Wrong sport? Bleurgh.

No, Stirling was never World Champion.

Fangio - Juan Manuel Fangio - was sort of half an era before Stirling. Fangio, an Aergentinian, was said to be the greatest motor racing driver of all time, & he won HALF of his 50 odd Grand-Prix starts.

These were my heroes when I was a boy. And Billy Wright.
