You've took one he'll of a beating there. Is going all-in the right move?

Hand 1 - Personally, I'd have preferred a 4BB opening bet. Mid pos may still force you all-in. If not, the flop is a bit messy. With the turn AND the river being bricks, I can't see a way around this one. Mid position is going to force you all-in at any point, to avoid you making a hand. Can you ever lay down QQ? I think Sam Grafton can. The only real chance you had was to go all-in post-flop, after an opening 4BB raise. Could MP risk you hadn't opened with pocket jacks and hit a set? It's the only plausible hand beating them. It would worry me.

@ Bench: Why are you raising 4bb's in hand 1? The only reason to raise 4bb in hand 1 is as an exploitative play. ie. Someone might call 4bb with a worse hand but will fold to a shove. We shouldn't be raising almost half our stack pf with any intention of ever folding post-flop. Shipping pre is completely fine - we can get called by worse still and if not, we at least pick up the blinds.

We could also consider a m-r (or 2.2-2.5x) sizing pf in the hope of inducing shoves from worse.

edit@ unlucky stoke anyway. All pretty standard coolers - the only thing to suggest is maybe be a bit more aggressive in the mid-stages to avoid being short stacked all the time - I don't know if you are or not, but when you constantly are GII with a small stack even though you can be favourite (or not, in the case of running into coolers), it's hard to keep winning them all ins.

I can see that bet is too big, compared to stack size. I guess the answer is, you have to be prepared to lose with big hands. I'm not sure Stokefc is happy with that.

thx fred,i do try to build up a stack early to mid tourny i think its been part of the downswing while trying to build i am getting coolerd at those points of the tourny meaning im getting short to the point of shoving with 10/11 bigs.
i dont know if its right or wrong but personnally i always shove when down to 10 bigs with 10,j +
i think i made the right choices in the hands above it just wasnt my night that night
feeling better now tho had small cashes in mega on friday plus small cashes in the mini and the 250 gtd on satdee, knew it would turn, just need a big score now:)

      Hey Stoke,

Doesn't relate directly to the posted hands (but it does relate to the emboldened bit), I shared tables with you in Fridays mega, thought your timing and plays were good, you kept active and stayed aggro approaching the bubble, kept your stack above the waterline and gave yourself plenty options.

Why would you be 4x opening? Are you seriously suggesting raise folding QQ off 10bb? In these spots its not about being results orientated (eg our opponent had KK). We want to be jamming our entire opening range and will pick up the blinds a lot. We are in good shape against a lot of the hands that call us. I dont understand the Sam Grafton can fold QQ comment, in a sat with 10bb (assuming we dont have a seat locked) I can assure you Sam is shoving all in!

Stoke, the hands are played correctly. As frustrating as it is, that is all that matters. Sometimes big hand walks into bigger hand. I wouldnt lose any sleep over those hands, there will be a load of hands to spend time on before looking at those ones. Chin up, move on and bink big soon!

      thx matt
yeah i find when down to 10/15 bigs it the easy part of the game im quite aggressive when i get that shallow
i know i need to work more early to mid tourny
im not the best of players but can hold my own sometimes i basically play free poker or it costs about £150/200 p/a
which is fine for a hobby
the hands above were just a culmination of a bad 2 or 3 weeks but i know how it is and how things can change so quickly, don't think ive posted hands like the above before it normally goes over my head and think meh on to the next one but i actually felt tilt which i never have, weird it was i can tell ya
would love to bink a score someday but like yourself i have to work and work hard to be consistent at this beautiful game of cards, thx for the positives m8 much appreciated
      great pic Tikay :)
