As someone wrote recently "We live in strange times, but people prefer to read than write"
So very true.
I read and enjoy a lot on here, I do write a bit myself and the lack of interaction does make you wonder sometimes whether anyone else is out there. I keep going because writing helps me, in theory but not always in practice to excercise self control, to think about my game, to have a cathartic whinge, or to share something I'm proud of (usually non-poker related there).
So, I have made myself a pledge...
POST MORE - Not on my diary but to let people know I appreciate their efforts. Hopefully it will encourage more to do the same and more to have a go at writing for themselves.

It's just the way things are these days, with Twitter, EffBook, people want free entertainment given to them, rather than write themselves. It's certainly not limited to this forum, all poker forums are suffering similarly.
Anyone who has been in poker more than 5 minutes will have been familiar with The Hendon Mob poker forum, it was always The Daddy of poker forums. It's as dead as a dodo now - the last post on it was on Saturday. It's Tuesday now. Can you believe that, not a single post since Saturday?
I have a forum elsewhere, too, & the Post count has declined by 60% or more since it's peak, 8 years ago. And yet the View count remains as high as ever. Lots read it, few post. I've been trying to rev it up lately, & the Post Count jumped by 50%, but it's not really sustainable.
Dohhh's Diary is another example, look how easy it was to rev that up, with just a few Posts. Everyone reads, few write. It's just how things are these days.

I wonder if some people hold back from posting because they don't think they are good enough?
We are certainly not all as witty as a Benchmark or Cenachev, or as clued up on poker theory/maths as an Ivanovic or TeddyBloat.
But we all have a story - look at the quality of the blog competition. Loved every single one of those - just regular people telling their stories about their poker experiences.
I am an avid reader of Dohhs diary - I just know I can't advise him on poker and definitely not nl cash- so I just pop in from time to time and wish him well or ask about cricket.

I think this is a very good point Phantom, but I also think that sometimes people almost forget to interact.
I am often guitly of doing this IRL, sometimes sitting in crowd I just listen, its not something I am aware of until someone asks why I am being so quiet......10 minutes later they are telling me to shut up ;-)
Love all these old anecdotes. Nosebleed games are fun and all, but there isn't much character to be had from avatars pushing a whole bunch of chips around a screen and little idea about who the puppet master is behind it all.
Can only wish that I had ever had half the skill and talent of these guys in order to have experienced this sort of stuff first hand!

I'm remember the two murder stories in the news. Shocking stuff!
