JOKER POKER-LITERALLY!

edited October 2015 in Poker Chat
                                               Hi all,
Last night I was in my local's 18 handed Redtooth league game.
We'd been playing about 20 minutes when I looked down at my hand to see I'd been dealt pocket Jokers!(Suprised we hadn't seen one of them already)! For a laugh I decided to play them and scared off everyone by shoving the river with 2 1/2k in the pot before I burst out laughing and showed my hand.
Does anybody else got any mad anecdotes like that?I'm still giggling now about mine last night.
                                                                                                                                 Jim
P.s. Everybody got their chips back of course

What was the nut hand you could make if the jokers could have played as wild cards?

Really like this. You will now be the envy of your pub poker league, with rumours of your legendary poker skills traveling to the regional finals and beyond.

I working in a casino a few years back, and once seen a guy on the button raise pre, then bet the flop, turn and river.

On the river, the other guy in the pot says "If I pass, will you show?"

Aggressor replies, "Much your hand, and I'll show".

Other guy mucks his hand, and keeping to his word, the aggressor shows the one card he's been dealt.

                                               Hi JP,
I guess the aggro player had nothing to lose as he'd only been dealt only 1 card and could call a mis-deal if he was called and beat.He could say he thought he saw 2 cards of same colour n strength to justify it.
Great anecdote though and yes I am called the comic now by ny poker pals!

    That's not correct Jim.

If the rules were properly applied, & the hand played as described, including the guy mucking his hand, Mr "One Card" does not get the pot, his hand is void, & the pot goes to Mr Mucked Hand.

Our hand is void if we do not have the correct number of cards, no exceptions.

                                 Hi Tikay;
Mr `folders` hand will still stand even though his cards have hit the muck?
What if one card Willie just lobbed his card and dragged in the chips(not knowing he was doing anything wrong as he'd called blind because of stack sizes)?I'm not nit picking but im a T.D. and don't want to mess up when ruling in my private game that I've recently started.
There are some real mine-field decisions out in Pokerville and we play for decent buy-iins so all these `Pearls`are gratefully received.
                                All the best m8,
                                                     Jim

If I were the TD Jim, I'd void Mt One Card's hand & give him a penalty, two orbits or something like that.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for him not to know he only had one card, so we know he is a cheat.

On that basis, & in the interest of fair play, I would award the hand to the other geezer & give Mr Cheat a penalty.

Even if he fesses up halfway though the hand that he only has one card (the correct action) his hand is still void, & any chips he has put in the pot are forfeited.

                                      Hi Tikay.
Thanks for the clarification on this unusual scenario.I'm always looking for the correct decisions in obscure situations so I don't look a fool if ever it pops up in my game.
Its good to know I can turn to people like yourself if something like this pops up.I have literature on being a T.D. but you cant go wrong when there are poker-wise people like yourself to bounce these questions about.
                                                                               Thanks mate,
                                                                                                   Jim

On this occasion, the hand was made void.

IMO this was the fairest decision as no player had a live hand.

If he was to fess up mid-hand, Folder wins.

Should have let him win the pot! Massive baller playing with one card and betting every street.

There's a card game called "Cheat" - it has other names, but none suitable for the forum! Anyway, sure many of you will have heard of it but for those that haven't the aim of the game is to get rid of all your cards. You get a turn each and you have to put down up to 4 cards of the same rank. If you have 4 jacks for example you can put down 4 jacks - or of course you can cheat and put 4 random cards down and hope no-one calls you out on it since if they do you have to pick up the whole pile

Anyway, I had a joker that I'd dealt myself beforehand and proceeded to put down 4 nines which was actually 3 nines and a joker. Cue the player who had a 9 called out cheat whilst  wondering why I'd be so stupid to put down 4 nines when I clearly didn't have 4 of them. I then said to him to pick them up because I wasn't cheating; and showed him the joker. Think we argued for a good few minutes me maintaining that he has to pick up the cards!!
