Limp2Lose almost defends Roller

edited October 2015 in Poker Chat
Hi, I hope you don't mind a fatherly brag.

However, I wanted to congratulate  my son, Gary Carter (Limp2Lose) on another great run in the Super Roller.

He just lost out in the heads up battle this time, 88<AT. all in pre, so couldn't quite manage to repeat last week's win.

I managed to scrape a final table seat too, but didn't last long, and was soon railing my formidable son.

Well played Gary, an outstanding display of controlled aggression, sound judgement and discipline.

Cheers,

Graham (Dad)

Very well played to him. I thought my achievment of 10th followed by an 8th the week before last was a decent achievment!

    Thanks Dave.

Yes, I was pretty short stacked, so felt I had to go with my 66, and take a chance, but like you say, best hand won, so no complaints.

Will pass on your comments to Gary (can't get him to go on the forum, he's a low profile sort of fella). However, he has very much appreciated people's kind words and support.

    All the best,

    Graham

    Hi Graham

When i told my dad that i played some online poker he went absolutly mad at me. But i said its really good fun and i win a little. He still went mad. This has put me off telling anyone family or friends.

Really good seeing you support your son and i am sure u have passed alot of your experience on to him. Congrats limptolose.

Very well played son and dad

It is important and sometimes difficult to get support of family. Give time to family and other things outside poker and everybody is happy, it is for me.

Convincing family  and friends, Poker is not gambling against a casino/house (with correct BRM) is hard.

    Well done again guys

Hi Stuart. thank you for your comments.

Yes I can understand if at times parents or family disapprove.

I have been separated from Gary's Mum ever since he was born, but Gary and I have always been close and in regular contact. However when Gary told his Mum that he wanted to follow in my footsteps, and leave his job to play poker full time, she was NOT happy! (With me or him)

So I know all too well, how it can be difficult with family. The important thing to remember is that they care about you, and don't want to see their children/relation face difficulties, or to have a problem with gambling.

Unfortunately people that don't understand Poker just see it as gambling (my sisters still think that when I win, it is just luck and nothing else), so trying to explain that there is a skill edge often falls on deaf ears.

I think the most important thing is to be true to yourself and monitor your winning and losing. If you are a winning player and/or you enjoy it and it's under control, then just rise above any cynicism. However it's always worth reviewing things now and again to make sure it's still an enjoyable and profitable/affordable pastime.

I wish you all the best with your games and managing your family's expectation.

    Cheers,

    Graham

    Hi TK,

Gary and I thought the coverage was great!

It was nice to see lots of hands, showing bluffs etc. rather than solely the exit hands or all in pre flop hands.

You guys made it really entertaining!

    All the best,

    Graham
