Footie betting (Sat 30th Jan)

edited February 2010 in The Shed
Yay! It's the weekend. Loads of footie to get stuck into & more the point, loads of opportunities to sting the bookies for a few quid.

Once again, I'll be having 3 bets this weekend. My usual accumulator, the over/under market & my longshot.

Here are my picks for tomorrow.

Accumulator:

Forest to beat Derby (A) @ EVENS
Bristol Rovers to beat Wycombe (H) @ 4/6
Charlton to beat Tran-mere (H) @ 1/2
Aldershot to beat Grimsby (H) @ 8/13
Rotherham to beat Macclesfield (H) @ 8/13

The 5 way on this is currently paying a little over 11/1 (11.38) which, considering there's 4 home games there. is good value imo. For the reasons below I'll also be perming 4 from 5 too.

Forest are in superb form at the moment. They've won their last 4 league games & are unbeaten in their last 19 home & away in the league! Derby have been very hit & miss recently having only won 2 of their last 9 league games. Given current form & this being a local derby this one could well be my coupon buster but with these odds I'm taking a gamble. For the other 4 choices, all have been very strong at home this season. To be honest, I'm really surprised that Aldershot are at the price they are. Given the respective home & away form of the 2 teams they should be a LOT shorter than 8/13. Get on it.

Over/Under market:

Fulham/Villa - UNDER 2.5 @ 4/6
Derby/Forest - OVER 2.5 @ 11/10
Norwich/Hartlepool - OVER 2.5 @ 4/6
Shrewsbury/Accrington Stanley (exactly!) - OVER 2.5 @ 5/6
Notts Co/Barnet - OVER 2.5 @ 8/11

The 5 way on this is currently paying a little under 16/1 (15.79) so well worth a couple of quid.

Fulham & Villa have both struggled for goals of late & I just can't see many popping up here. Derby & Forest shared 5 goals between them at the City Ground earlier in the season & Forest are also scoring for fun at the moment. Norwich, Shrewsbury & Notts Co are all strong at home and are more than capable of knocking a few in.

Longshot:

Birmingham/Spurs - DRAW @ 9/4
Fulham/Villa - DRAW @ 12/5
West Ham to beat Blackburn (H) @ EVENS
Colchester to beat Leeds (A) @ 5/1
Swindon to beat Southend (A) @ 11/8

This 5 way is paying a shade under a HHHUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEE 314/1 (313.93)!!!! I always like having a small longshot each week & can't believe this returns so much when you look at it a bit more in depth.

Birmingham have been difficult to beat in the last 8 weeks or so (Chelsea in midweek aside) & Spurs can be very hit & miss away from home. Fulham & Villa have both struggled for goals recently (except when Villa have played Blackburn strangely!). My boys will be disappointed with anything less than 3 points against a Blackburn team who have won away in the league just once all season. Plus (hopefully) Carlton Cole will start & we've got another couple of regulars back this weekend. Quite why Colchester are this big to beat Leeds is beyond me. Yes, they're at Elland Road & yes, they've not been the greatest travellers this season, but let's not forget that Leeds have been on the wrong end of some bad results recently & even Wycombe managed to come away with a point from Elland Road a couple of weeks ago. Again, I'm not sure why Swindon are not a lot shorter than this as they've been in cracking form winning their last 4 & have only lost once in their last 11 home & away in the league. These 5 are well worth a quid.

As ever, good luck with your bets

Good stuff mate. I'll post my selections either tonight or dinner time tomorrow. It's doubtful that anyone will pay attention to them after the midweek debacle but i''m gonna win soon, i can feel it.

Good Looking Stuff Again. Looks like Rochdale (and Bristol C) mucked-up a few bets in mid-week.

    Stay Positive!!

That Lapdance is not far off Quagmire. Trust Me.

On a personal note, If I fail again I will have to make do with a vowel and three consonants!

Will be posting my 9 selections in due course...

    Good Luck to you all.

Arsenal v Man. UtdMan. City v Portsmouth (City)West Ham v BlackburnHull v WolvesFulham v Aston VillaBirmingham v TottenhamSlightly nervous about expecting Hull, the worst team in premier league history, to get a draw at home
against an equally poor team. I'll get off the fence for the next selections. 585/1 btw.!

Same here, you know you should give up when you back a team who have won 7 out of 10 home games and they are playing a team who havent won a single game home or away all season, not a single win think they were on 6 points with 6 draws and the go and win 2-0 bloody berwick.

To be fair it wasnt the only team to let me down but soooo frustrating

dam 0-0s have done me today. west ham beat blackburn 9 seasons running, and blackburn haveconceded in every game this season obvious 0-0. and Ithought middlesboro had bought all those players to become a better team. 3out of 3 loses. well i know i get alot more evens winners than losers . So whos playing who in midweek? Its just like a bad beat at poker-you have to keep going.

Ive hopefully got a good double today.

    Man city @ 3/10.
Indianapolis 1/2  (no handicaps straight win)

    Double @  19/20.

I think Tevez eats duracell batteries, from first to 90th minute he just keeps going going going.
City should win by about 3 goals, + I dont see why the colts cant win by at least 10 points.
It looks good on paper anyway. but yesterday was awful.

stoke away win ,around 11/4 3/1.

Man U 2-0 Rooney to score first  (50-1) just a cheeky £1 bet to make it interesting
  • edited January 2010

It was a bit of a minefield this weekend 3 of my 4 perms have crashed and burned but 1 is still running, need sunderland/stoke to be under 2.5 goals and i'll pick up £27.

Had a single on Burnley /Chelsea over 2.5 goals which recouped all of the outlay on the 4 perms with a small profit so i look at the monday night game as a free bet.
