First hand - no comments. Played well.

Second hand - limping UTG with aces is a classic move, hoping to get raised round the back then come over the top. Doyle Brunson mentioned this trick in Super/System way back in 1979. Unfortunately, everyone is aware of it so it rarely works. Once it fails and you have a family pot, you're in trouble. In addition, the TJ on the flop is an obvious danger; you need to start extracting yourself from the hand at this point. I'm not saying just fold, but keep it in control. The turn bet was simply overplaying your hand as you have just one pair with six people still in the pot. Unlucky the one true killer card came on the end but the turn bet meant that the pot had already got too big for you.

Plenty will say that you should just pop it up pre, but I have no problems with your play on occasion if you're pretty sure someone will try it on. But if you're going to just limp, you've got to be able to extract yourself from the hand.

great input and advice BigBluster thanks mate.... yes i had the same idea hoping for a raise so i could maybe re-raise and try to keep control of the pot... however as you said we ended up in a family pot pretty much which i did not want noe expect.... the flop was a danger to my hand and could of got out the hand or tried a flat raise on the turn, now im pretty sure my hand is still good on the turn so i bet 500 but still have an idea of the villians hands thier playing... i still think their chasing and im right so im thinking 500 may take them off thier hand, this is were i may have gone wrong maybe i should of shoved on the turn and maybe we get a fold then??? however they call my 500 and we river the set! this also puts a straight and a flush out there...... now the reason for my all in on the river???? Well with both calling my 500 im also thinking maybe thier not chasing maybe they have hit and with my raises thinking im just trying to take the decent pot so now im putting one villian on say A10 K10 the other maybe Q10 QJ JK KQ.... all this said i think im only ever taking the pot down pre flop! or an all in on the flop/turn???????

jakx I think you're over-analysing. You only have one pair on the flop and turn in a family pot with no real draws. Going all-in would be a terrible mistake.
As it turned out you would have won the hand but it would still be a mistake.

You tried to lay a trap and it didn't work. From then on the hand should be played with extreme caution.

Still very unlucky that the suicide card came on the river.

yes your probably right about over analysing... However can over analysing get me into trouble in the short term?? (yes i think so) but i also think it helps in the long run ie in future i may find myself in the same spot which is inevitable and use my ealier anlaysis to make the move on the flop/turn i dont think im getting called in that situation???.... Great feedback tho BigBluster and very much taken on board. thanks again... :)

    1st hand.

Bet the flop bigger, go for more 100-120

Defintely bet turn. There is no merit in checking whatsoever IMO. You allow him to see a free card with all his pair and clubs. You just allow him to see a cheap river IP, I assume your plan was to c/r. But do you ever take this line with a draw? I dont think so, you either have flush or T when you take this line. If he has a hand like 6x, if he is going to call a river bet he is going to call a turn bet for sure. You gotta bet this turn 100% time.

River You bet pot, now you literally never have air here now given you check turn, our opponent checks back turn so we are sorta hoping that he spiked K on river, which is a small part of his range, so I would prefer a bet of 180-200.

    2nd hand.

Generally I wouldnt limp aces, it just allows opponents in too much, unless you have a table where a single raise UTG is going to garner the whole table to call, and there is loose agro players on the table to act I just would not add this to your pre-flop limping range, (dont have a limping range ep)

Your raise on the flop is okay, his bet of 40 into 200 looks weak and at best is 1p (unless he re-raises you again)

Your raise however is too small, your giving opponents incredible prices, call 80 to win 400. Give the sb/bb range we have assinged is weak and your raise now looks strong, you give opponents yet to act In position a great price to also call, 120 into 400. They can call this with draws and not even need implied odds. I would go for 230-250, but I would make it like 237.

The turn I like but I would raise bit smaller, annoying when the donk like this for min but try to just treat it as a check

River I think is a c/fold. We dont beat anything now, the only hands that would bet this river, that didnt raise flop/turn is AJ and we have AA and he would likely raise AJ pre.

    We literally beat nothing

hi mrleemr1 great input again from yourself i take all advice good and bad on board in hope to make my game even stronger and to have a bit of an edge over the av player.... your advice is very sound good advice and very much welcomed.... i was hoping for a raise before the flop if im honest, this is the reason for the limp i was pretty sure it was going to be raised as most hands before this hand were getting raised but ended up in a family pot really which did not sit well with me as the hand played out.... im still very new to poker only 3-4 years of experience (limited experience at that) ive only just started applying the math to poker and really getting to know the game im doing this by reading as much as i can watching as much and playing as often as i can... i would like to play full time but im not sure im at that level to just yet hence me getting all the help and feedback i can possibly get from players such as yourself..... my aim is to enter the bigger buy ins £55+ the high rollers as i feel once im able to do this i dont think i will run into as many bad beats by awful/mediocre hands..... or am i wrong to presume this and may fall into donk hands in the bigger buy ins/high rollers????? thanks again mrleemr1

Basically play the correct hand ranges depending on correct situations, and play optimallly on each street, and then whatever happens happens.

As long as you have the bankroll to cover losses, despite how frustrating it can be, if it wasnt for people making mistakes then you couldnt make money
