A Freebuy.

What that?

FREE to enter, with 50p reBUY.

Neat name really - it was coined by the office junior, I gather.
 
So here's the coup.

Free to enter, & you get 1,000 chips.

For 50p, you can rebuy, & you get 3,000 chips per rebuy. You can rebuy as many times as you wish.
 
There will be an Add-On which also costs 50p, & you'll get 10,000 (TEN THOUSAND) chips for the add-on.

    Waste of time & money? Might be.

    But wait.

    There will be 5 of these today (11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm) & each one will GUARANTEE 20 seats into tonight's Tuesday Turbo Open, where the Guarantee has been double  to £10,000.

    So, I effect, each of these Freebuy's has a £220 Guarantee. That's a lot of 50p rebuys & add-ons. 

    Overlay expected? Might be.

    The first Freebuy sold only 66 rebuys and 29 add-ons. 

    (66 + 29) x 50p = £47.50

    With a prize pool of 20 seats x £11 = £220, that's a massive overlay of £172.50 if my maths is correct.

    Massive value. Surely the next Freebuy will attract a bigger field?

    not sure if it was intentional but the blinds in these tournaments are a little funny, 3 minutes for all levels apart from, 6 minutes for level 16, 1 minute for level 19 and 2 minutes for level 20..

    Is this a new strategy where by we can look forward to tourneys with levels that vary or is this just a mishap?

    other than that great tournaments with a great guarantee. well done that man (or woman) in the office..
