I am amazed when I read on various forums including some of the allegedly superior ones the hands and actions that some people consider to be a "bad beat". Constant whining about villians calling for pot odds of 4/1 etc with about 10 outs or about how the Aces we were slowplaying got run down coz we allowed runner runner to get there.
To my mind Ive only ever suffered ONE really bad beat in about 15 years of playing both online and live and that was when was sitting at a £1 £2 pot limit hold em game. 10 player full ring
I was sb and posted as did bb, utg straddles to £4 utg+1 makes it £8 next guy "oh its like that eh ok" £16, problem is the next two players are very rich and love to gamble so soon its £64 and we havent seen a card yet.
the next guys in line dont think that straddling any more is wise and we get our cards.
I wait until its folded to me and tbh I wasnt expecting any action before then and Lordy I have the Aces. I pot it and watch as it folds round to Richie Rich he folds but his mate the only player left to act insta repots with the famous " im only doing this coz theyre suited"
Now lets be honest I WANT that action so I shove the remainder of my stack in and he calls and tables 7d 3d I flip my Ad As over and the flop comes 7h 7s 3c. Not quite sure what followed but it certainly wasnt another Ace.
Now I feel justified in thinking that thats a bad beat but perhaps the mathematicians will prove me wrong.
Anyway what do you feel is a bad beat.?

coolers-things like set v set, AA vKK that sort of thing.
sickeners-you've got a monster are sitting ahead. You both get it in correctly or odd just a fraction too high and that bad card comes. ie KK beats AA with his set, weaker high card flush is now straight flush or lower set gets quads...
Bad beats- two big stacks going all in and one a very good hand the other hand a piece of junk calling extremely bad odds , hands like your AA v 73s
This one must be up there as well. the 1 and only out he could hit and he gets it:@} great game poker
Hand 1 is prime example of where I separate the sickeners and bad beats.
you might have beat him with a runner runner but it's only known after showdown. During play he's gifted you a free turn card which has provided you with a nut straight meaning your now making sensible call know he could be holding trips or a weaker straight and so comes that unfortunate sickener card giving you the royal which you feel glad about on he showdown.
