It looks like the late major tournaments have been titled "Speed" games. the 23:00, 23:30 and 00:30 now have a faster structure (i think) as does the 19:45. these, alongwith the 22:30pm, makes the schedule look so much more exciting.

i have used a minimum threshold of 50. that is removing anyone who has played fewer. to compare peoples' play you have to decide a reasonable cut-off. 1,000 games is not a good idea as it eliminates the overwhelming majority and you are left with measuring the ROI% only amongst a handful of players.
a 50 game threshold is a better number to use if you seek to compare hundreds (or thousands) of players whereas a sample size of 1,000 is good to be (almost) certain about one particular player's ROI.
I wholeheartedly disagree with 50 games being a good barometer to measure ROI. I suggest you start a thread and ask the "who's who" of sky poker what they consider a reasonable sample size to calculate MTT ROI.
yes, agreed. it is a compromise between those two things.
i woke up several times through the night and started re-thinking this point. usually thinking about formulae and processes sends me back to sleep, but this kept me wide awake.
today, i will use a 100 game threshold and see if it is better.
p.s. normally, i will seek to include approx 10%-15% of the 50,000 total player number to give a reasonable level of meaning to the figures. the 50 game threshold gives a pool of 7,843 players. changing to 100 players will bring this down towards 10%.

there is no disagreement that to know unequivocally we need to look at all games and would wish the number of events to be hundreds or thousands. we also know that a good barometer of player ability when compared to others needs to look at many games but not too many. this task requires a good sized pool of players so that you can evaluate relative performance.
as i said, i see your point but it is a balance.
edit: i have just noticed your figures cpfc_2010. astonishing. i reckon that if i had your track record i would have made exactly the same point that you have made. look out for the new and additional 1,000 game threshold ROI% league later today. it will be a good thing for sure.
i have no idea to which league table you refer or why you should reject the data. each league shows the top players given certain criteria, if you don't like one particular league, it doesn't make it incorrect, it just means that hhyftrftdr doesn't like it.
there are 25 different leagues. you can choose the one that best matches your own view of who's best.
the leagues are quantitative and qualitative and show results by volume, by returns, by profit, by points, by percentage performance etc., over differing periods too, by day, week, month, year, past year and past three years. there are also another 10 specialist leagues.
If comparisons are less important to you than you own individual performance you can see your own HERO Card. There are 50,000 of those.
i might try publishing two leagues on ROI% with two different thresholds; 100 games and 1,000 games. that way, we may evaluate player performance over three years at two different levels. stay tuned.
