getting the idea of loose passive players without showdown

edited May 2016 in The Poker Clinic
I keep finding myself in real difficulty with broadway cards against the weak passive. The majority of them have a loose passive image preflop but I think the habits change post flop some will give up right away others might chase runner runners thereby giving up on unimproved turns and then you'll have your gamblers. Holding a pair or better I can go into the flop with ease and put full attemption onto the board without much concern about the calls. I do sometimes notice players doing folds on a turn card I'm thinking would be more likely to get calls and  othertimes I get suprised when the aggressive player gives up on streets where the card was a brick. What I'm wanting to do now is work out just how loose a player is post flop.

I'm thinking here that the player must be a very loose caller on the flop who might easily give up on the turn OOP because when I saw the 7 I thought now he'll have even greater reason to call the hands i'm beating especially if I made a nice value bet.

being a large size bet I wasn't totally certain he'd call draws especially weaker draws and he might now give up middle pair I was still certain he'd call  what i'm looking at now is how can I use this to my advantage with hands like AQ KQ?

I'm not sure what difficult spot you are finding yourself in any of these hands?

I don't actually find myself in a difficult spot on these occassions, I'm trying to get advice on getting an idea  of how loose an opponent really is post flop without needing to consistantly go into showdown. It will mean I can start getting the greatest of value from hands good and make a better approach with broardcards that missed the flop because at this minute in time seem to be having a nightmare.

There aren't rules! Just get a feel for playing down the streets, you wont be right all the time. No one is. You cant put every player in a set category of plays all hands this way.

Watch how they play in hands that you're not involved in - you will quickly get a read on how light they are calling down. Then if you know they're calling down really light you have to be prepared to value-bet really light and also to only ever bluff them if you a) have lots of equity and b) the board run out is really good for a bluff.

If they're not calling down light then because they have such a wide range pre-flop then bluffing them will be super profitable.

me yeah i raise there mate, for 1 he hits the other 6 with his k6 or something pants and boom you get a bad beat which could of been avoided on the turn, but hey what i know.

you played heads up mate? that gets you picking up on calling stations pretty quickly

getting the correct size is something that I can find difficult against these guys post flop especially when it's a 3bet. I expect my hand to be ahead of his range most times but a 3et does pose a risk of making those weaker hands fold and when holding AA that does feel like a risk.

I've never really played HU, I;ve occassionally had a brief period of HU whilst waiting for the table to fill but the majority of times ddn't look sucessful.
