Morning.
You have just been very unlucky there, but you should not be disheartened. Pre-flop you win that coup 4 times in 5, & so you really do want that call. Oddly, once he sees the flop, he is a slight fave anyway, but that's not the point, the money went in pre. He hits the wrong out, too - he is supposed to get there with the flush draw or open-ender, but he did it the hard way.
It had nothing to do with moving up stakes though, in fact that play is more likely at lower levels than it is at £11.
Just keep doing what you are doing, & you'll be fine.
When we are really sweating our bankroll with care & diligence, these beats really do sting a bit, but we just have to ride with the punches.
Really, for you, it was a great play by him. Repeat it 1,000 times, & you win it 800 times. That's pretty good, eh?
Good luck.
You worry that there won't be as many spewy players there.
This hand should make you do a happy dance, possibly a naked one.
Glgl
In lower stakes games there can be a lot of solid players, obv this is true of all levels but my point is imo there are lots more spewy players in the 5-20 levels.
Stick at it and gl. Keep us posted with how you are getting on, post more hands, not just suck outs but tricky spots etc.
I don't post on here much but from what I read the man above ( Teddy noy God : )) is not only a v good player but also extremely forthcoming with sharing his indepth knowledge of the game, helpful with advice and critiquing hands / theory's / plays etc.
