Best Beats

edited August 2016 in Poker Chat

Use this thread for those really amazing beats we all suffer from time to time. No chuntering or moaning, only post if you can laugh about it.

Cheezy posted a cracker this morning.

He was playing Omaha, he had the Aces, & by the turn, there were THREE sixes on the board.

Hard to lose from there, right? Sixes full of Aces takes some beating, only the case 6 can beat him. And guess what - he had the case 6 too.

    How good is that?

    And he LOST.

This one sticks in my mind (not the wsop, that's for another day ;)
In mini BH, folded round to SB when I had AA in BB, praying for him to raise, he duly obliged . Woo hoo trapping time.
Flop AQQ, he bets I flat call
    (dead clever me)
Turn I can't remember but was inconsequential, he pots it, I shove he calls..he has AQ, river Q lol.

One of my most memorable was when I had first started playing a good few years ago. Middle of an MTT, I get dealt good old AK suited so raise. Only one caller, and we see a flop of 7910, all spades, which I have. Being naive, I bet full pot, too which the chap just calls. I'd be more than suspicious nowadays, but I was just thinking happy days.

The turn is the ace of clubs. At this point I just shove thinking he's called the chunky bet, he's gonna call off the rest. Sure enough he does, turning over Q8 of spades. The river...J of spades.

    Lovely.

I think most people remember their first really bad beat. My worst first was I raised with AK and got 1 caller.
Flop was AAK, not bad I thought so I bet hoping they would not believe me, and they called
Turn was a 4 and again I bet and was called.
River was another 4 and I bet again only to be raised so I called and lost to quad fours.
I half laughed and called him/her a lucky something and carried on playing. Later I looked at the odds and though some might think it was highly unlikely to happen, when you consider the thousands of hands I sometimes play in a day, it is in fact highly likely I will suffer several bad beats a day of various odds. Of course nobody bothers remembering the bad beats when they win usually.

My best so far was in fact after taking a prolonged break from poker, which lasted about a month, due to the fact that I though I was running quite poorly!

Anyway I think it was my second evening back and at the time I played more MTTs (don't have the time or inclination atm), so decided to play my first main event for a while.

After a while I was dealt 33, so called a pre flop raise obviously hoping to flop a set. Missed my set on the flop as I flopped quads! Yup, lovely 335 board.

The turn was the majical flushing 4 which brought straight and flush possibilities for my opponent. When the 5 river came I remember betting, my opponent raised me all in and just before I called I thought 'if I'm still running as badly as before he'll have 55 here', I actually genuinely considered folding quads! I didn't and called. He had pocket 5's for quad 5s.

You have to laugh don't you!

i dont tilt much anymore but this sent me way over the edge, wasnt here it was on stars and fairly deep into a torn vs a very aggro player who was running over the table. we had very big stacks with his bigger.

i had 10/10 in hijack and villian on button. i raise 3x (my norm raise) after utg limp. villan min raises me back, blinds fold utg folds. i elect to call. flop 10 Q Q. i bet half he min reraises. i reraise half pot again hoping he has queen. he shoves i instant call. he turns over  A 3 suited for nothing, im thinking yes he cannot win, happy days. turn Q river Q.

other people in chatbox was more upset than me tho, i was completly shocked as never seen this before.

I remember one of the first pub games I played I had a full house which lost to quads, which subsequently lost to a massively slowrolled Royal.
Also in a local cash game saw 2 guys get it in with 99 vs KK on a 478 rainbow. Ran it 3 times and the 99 hit both nines, and a backdoor straight to scoop the lot

I remember a live game, pretty big stakes. 4 handed.

    Flop was Ah8s6s
    Turn 4s

At this point pot was pretty massive and it checks round still 4 handed.

    River As

check, check and all in, all in. Next comes a raise!

WOW, just WOW. Stare down ensues. All in....and a call!

First player has KQss for a flush

Second player has 88 for a full house!

Third player A6 for a bigger full house!

Finally 57ss is shown for the straight flush!
