i understand he had a flush draw but a 9 high draw could i have just given up and chucked my cards in pre flop because i dont understand his call one bit

mate i know exactly how u feel from playing a lot of omaha recently!!! we just have to accept the fact that some ppl will chase there str8 and flush draws without getting the odds to do so, and it is very annoying when they hit! but we need to remember that over time we will come out better off in this situation and therefore we can use this to our advantage.  keep your head up it looks like u couldnt have done much more!!!

Completely disagree.  This is winning poker long term.  He is about 33% roughly 2/1 to win the hand on the turn.  Lets assume he is not gonna call if he hits 9 so take away 3 outs making it about 28% (about 5/2) so if it plays out 7 times he should lose 5 (5 x £10.13 = £50.65) and win 2 (2 x £49.45 (based on the money in pot and river shove)= 98.90).  I appreciate he will not always be against a player who will play the hand as badly as Sim did and shove the river but in such cas his 9 will be good and should win more than he loses overall. 

On the ohter hand - betting all the streets and getting it all in by the river with an overcard to your pocket pair on the flop - now there's a strategy for losing long term!

It's not a bad call pre - 98s has a decent amount of potential, and he has position on you.

His flop call is pretty standard, tho he could raise.

On the turn I would raise in his spot, as he isn't getting the right odds to call, and wouldn't necessarily get paid any more if he hits.

I like your play, PF, flop and turn - strong bets, despite the fact their is an overcard.

As to the river shove, ask yourself what did you put him on, and what did you want him to do.

You have criticised his play, but he got most of his money in when he was in front.
