Hi There,
I just wanted to see what people thought about spin tables on here.
I am trying to play better poker and for the last 6 months I have just been playing spin tables. I won £900 one month, £555 next month then last month I lost £270 and this month I am down £500.
I have noticed that I have been tripling my buy in then losing the big pot with the best hand or a flip. I have developed this unfortunate knack of losing the big pots, especially on spin 1/2.
Casinos make a fortune with only a small house advantage over the player, I am getting it in with over pair vs under pair, or ak vs ax or at worst ak or aq vs pair.
so a flip or 70/30 or 80/20 fav.
I thought I would be on a money maker in these situations, but if it is a big pot (after I have doubled up a few times) I lose.
Can anyone please give me some advice? I am putting a lot of time in to improving and this last 2 months have been frustrating as I have certainly improved a lot but my bank roll is getting low and I am feeling down about my poker.
Sometimes I feel sky has got it in for me. which I know sounds crazy, but you should see some of the junk the other player wins with!
Thank you very much

Thanks a lot for your post. Its kind of you to give me some tips, thanks. I used to play 10p/20p nl cash games (splashies, dtm liamboi etc) I used to lose most of the time on there. Is that the type of cash table you think I should play? I was aiming to become a spin table specialist, but maybe I should take your advice and head back to regular cash. I guess I have learnt something from playing spin, maybe I will do better on the regular cash games now.
Thanks mate, good luck to you
As in all types of poker it's just a question of adapting to the correct way to play depending on how the others are playing. I generally think Al is right and that tight aggressive is 100% the way to play these. I've had a few goes and mostly the mistake people make is to call when low stacked in pots where they have no real implied odds and no fold equity...in that spot they should just fold. Calling in these things is definitely the worst option almost all the time. You are often short stacked or your opponent is short stacked and the option should be shove or fold. If you Google Nash and shove charts you may get some ideas of the hands you need to shove.
From your original post I would guess that you just haven't played enough to have a sample size to tell if you are a winner at these things. It sounds like you've played perfectly and got unlucky in a few spots but the fact you remember them exactly makes me think you've played relatively few hands.
Keep on trying to improve and please don't think about losing 80/20 or 70/30 situations as unusual...if they never happened they would be called 100/0 situations.
