this happened on the bubble of a dym. was getting tight then got busted! i thought id won until i noticed id been knocked out!! grrrrrrrrrrrr.

yes i know its another bad beat but i always seem to lose in a harsh way! if hed hit a 6 fair enough or if hed had higher pairs or over cards then fair enough. could really do with a bit of luck right now lol

Yep, it's gutting when that happens on the bubble.

You'll lose 1 in every 5 times that your pocket pair dominates that of your opponent. The human memory is naturally selective, we all remember the bad beats like this for a long time, but we tend to forget very quickly about the 4 in 5 times that our higher pair wins as expected.

    Hi Donkeyplop.
Always a bit unlucky when you have the best starting hand and get beat, however, my advice is - don't rate your pocket pairs so highly - I only risk going all-in with AA, KK, AK unless I am low stacked. At the end of the day a pair is the lowest hand you can get and is only favourite pre-flop.

Unless I have AA, KK, AK, I am usually Betting 3 - 4 times Big Blind Pre-flop with my pocket pairs, if you improve on your pocket pairs on the flop or the flop indicates that your pocket pairs are still favourite, then that's where i'm shoving. But look at the flop, is it possible villain1 can make a possible straight, flush or even a higher pair before making your move.

If you have 10,10 as your pocket pair for instance - raise 3-4 x BB pre-flop, if you get a caller and the flop drops Q,4,J, as in your previous post, you can pretty much guarantee that you are no longer favourite to win this hand. Any action from other players from that point will give you a good indication that you are no longer favourite, folding is now the best option thus protecting your tourny life and your chipstack.

So My advice is, don't overate your pocket pairs. success in DYMs requires very tight play.

    Good Luck Donkyplop.
