Last year the WSOP schedule was very late to be announced which resulted in a lot of complaints being direct at the tournament organisers. This obviously made it more difficult for some players to organised time out of their life schedules to play. I think part of the delay was down to exclusivity deals being hammered out. In light of this, we can at least hope that the schedule will be released a bit earlier this year.
The full schedule is expected to be released at some point in February. Some details have already started to emerge...
The 48th series will run from May 30th until July 17th, once again at the Rio All Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Some events have also already been announced, which are...
02/06/2017 - $565 Colossus III
10/06/2017 - $1500 Millionaire Maker
16/06/2017 - $1000 Seniors and Super Seniors
24/06/2017 - $1500 Monster Stack
01/07/2017 - $888 Crazy Eights
08/07/2017 - $10000 Main Event
11/07/2017 - Little One For One Drop (Buy In TBC) This was one of the Sky events last year.Personally I would love to play them all but as I am on a break from playing full time while studying at uni, this is unlikely to happen. Once I get my studies out the way after next summer then the gloves will come off
I wasn't intending to play any events while studying as it is hard building bankrolls to go on these adventures with so little spare time leading up to the WSOP but, like the last 3 years, I will make a big effort to qualify for at least 1 event. Would love to play a OH8 event and maybe try and sneak a Main Event ticket. Time will tell if I have the time, skills and luck manage this. I can dream at least
If anyone is going to be trying for the first time this year and is wondering what it is all like then Tikay's 'Guide To Las Vegas' will probably answer most questions. Here is a link to
part 1. You can get to the subsequent parts from the links at the bottom of that page. Tikay also has a few video clip guides to Vegas
here, again links to subsequent parts are on that page. There are also a lot of blog posts from last year if you scroll back a chunk of pages to the forum and blog posts from last summer.
For anyone thinking of trying for the first time it will probably become clear if you read posts from last year that this is a brilliant experience. Cashing in the events (while this would be ideal) is not the 'be all and end all'. Sky really do go the extra mile to make sure everyone has a great time. This is all assuming Sky run more qualifiers this year, fingers crossed
Anyways, the main point of writing this post is so we can hopefully look forward to this years WSOP, maybe share some tips as to qualification routes (might have to PM info to each other on qualifiers outwith Sky), give anyone thinking of trying for the first time some more info and share any updates about schedule releases etc. We could maybe share our progress towards qualification too?
As someone who tries to follow all the WSOP updates each year it would be brilliant to see someone from Sky snag a bracelet! Could it be this year? Will it be you?

Not sure if links to this are allowed although I am sure a quick google search will work though.
