Turbo DYM - What should our calling range be here?

edited February 2017 in Sit & Go Strategy

£3 Turbo DYM.

We are on the bubble

Blinds 150/300

I am on the BB with another 660 behind

UTG folds from 2137.50 stack
Button shoves 475
SB folds leaving 2277.50 behind

I acted on my gut at the time, but should we call with any 2 here?

Yes. Need to invest 175 chips to win 1100-you are better odds than that with 3 2 off v AA. The fact that he is the shortie means that worries re bubble etc are not as relevant as in other scenarios. Similarly, SB should always call there

I accept we have the odds to call with any 2.

I did have 32o as it happens and I did call.

Do we need to factor in our odds of cashing by

calling and winning   I would say we only win and cash about 30% of the time here
calling and losing     70% of the time we lose so shortie is now on 1100 and we are on 485

folding                   we are on 660 shortie has been given a free ride to 925 chips

edit:made a mistake on 1st posting of this as I hadnt taken off the extra 175 chips for the call.

We are either 660 v 925 or 485 v 1100 at 150/300 blinds. We are still live, is it worth taking the 30% chance to end it now. Or put it another way does preserving out chips to be only 660 v 925 give us a better chance of cashig than the 30% if we call plus  the chance of cashing if we are 485 v 1100?

I think it makes it quite a more marginal decision than just looking at the odds in isolation.

I even managed to cash by making a straight I just wanted to check whether my gut instinct was correct.

I also thought it would make a general DYM strategy point about having to call sometimes when we know we are behind and not just looking at the 2 cards in front of us.

Im thinking this is just the type of outcome that leads to a " its rigged for the regs " post. What did oppo have out of curiosity?

@Chilling Opponent had 89s. For reference we are actually 32% with 32o against any 2 cards and against 89s specifically.

@Phil - I am not sure I agree that the SB should always be calling. Not in a DYM. The 2 shorties are about to go to war (or should be) so if I were in the SB I would definitely not call with any 2. I would call fairly light given the stacks at the table, but not with 32o as I do in the BB. If the SB had called ahead of me I would have binned the 32o from the BB.

Yeah I am calling and checking down on this.

It's close to a 'you or them' spot so any 2 in they go and try and end it now whilst you can.
