Sky Vegas - All your favourite games. All in one place.

Hey guys,

the idea of this thread is to keep you updated about all the latest Sky Vegas info and hopefully introduce you to a few new games you might not have seen before but will enjoy.

so with out further ado, first up...

Jacks or Better M Hand

It really doesn’t matter if you play online or at your local brick and mortar casino, there’s one game you can guarantee you’ll see on the casino floor, virtual or otherwise – Video Poker.

The similarities to regular poker are quite limited, with hand rankings the same as traditional poker.  There is some good news though, with strategies that should see you keep your play as close to optimal as possible. Hey, run good and you could actually end up making a tidy couple of pounds along the way!

So, how can you get ahead when playing Video Poker? Let’s take this hand as an example:

Jc-Tc-9c-8s-8c.

You’ve been dealt a pair of Eights, but you’ve got the possibility of making a straight with the J-T-9-8. Then again, you could throw away the 8s and go for that oh so lovely straight flush. So many choices, so little time. What would you do? Well, if you follow this little crib sheet, you won’t go too far wrong.

Look up your hand vs. this list and see which ones are true. Obviously more than one can apply to your five card hand. Whichever of the options is highest on the list is the one you should stick with, discarding the others – it’s as simple as that. For the sake of the chart, a ‘high card’ is any Jack, Queen, King or Ace.

Jacks or Better – What to keep/draw to?

  • Four of a kind, straight flush, royal flush
  • 4 to a royal flush
  • Three of a kind, straight, flush, full house
  • 4 to a straight flush
  • Two pair
  • Pair (JJ+)
  • 3 to a royal flush
  • 4 to a flush
  • Pairs smaller than Jacks
  • 4 to an outside straight
  • 2 suited high cards.
  • 3 to a straight flush
  • 2 unsuited high cards (if more than 2 then pick the lowest 2. No, really).
  • Suited JT, QT or KT.
  • One high card
  • Throw them all away.

Right, there you go. Let us know what your thoughts on the game are and if the advice above is helpful or not. Also let us know if there are some other table games which you think might appeal to fellow poker players. Most importantly of all - good luck!
