Not again

edited February 2017 in Poker Chat
This is now getting completely ridiculous.I have often chuckled at the "site is rigged brigade"but over the last couple of
weeks it is just getting worse and worse.I have been knocked out of countless tournaments when holding by far the best
hands,by the most weird runouts.I know you'll all come on here stating that its just the way the game goes but now I
really have my doubts.I played my first live game for real cash in the attic of a seedy nightclub some 40 years ago and have
been playing live ever since and on-line for the past 10 years or so and never seen anything like this before.People will say
that you want these villians at your table but not when they constantly hit and outdraw you.Yes I do get it in bad at times and win but nowhere near as much as I end up getting shafted. This site does seem to reward hopelessly bad play time and time again. My latest bustout was an £11 BH were I four bet big with the aces and got a call from A7,you know the rest, two 7,s on the flop.Sorry for the winge but just had to get this off my chest.
Good luck to all at the tables, even to those you keep busting me with complete garbage.
Dave.

Would love to hear that story too!

Have you played throughout the 40 years?

How was the poker environment pre internet poker? Given online is comparitively new.

Regarding the online poker stuff e.g. Bad beats, there is a lot of common themes that crop up regularly saying online poker is not fair, perhaps rigged or rigged against that person. Someone loses when they get it in well ahead and lose, say a7 versus aa pre, or flopped set over set and Lower set makes quads. Par
t of the great (and bad) part of poker is that no outcome is 100% gteed- it's very unusual we will get it in and be drawing dead.
    F
All you can do is do your best and if you are getting it in good the vast majority of the time there is nothing more you can do, and you will be rewarded in the fullness of time.

It's hard sometimes in poker but it's better to look at the bigger picture and not one hand in isolatioon.

    I have a saying.
"The more you are bad beat then the better you are playing"
When you are all in against an opponent you would prefer to have the better hand as that gives you more chance of winning.
Assume your judgement is better than your opponents and you get it in with the better hand twice as often as your opponents.
Therefore logically you will be bad beat twice as often as your opponents as you had the better hand twice as often.

Doing the right thing will win out in the long run, in the short term anything can and does happen.
Try to think I got that right when you have the best hand, and I got that wrong when you don't regardless of whether you win or lose the hand. Of course avoiding this scenario is even better.

Thanks for the comments guys, all right and I wasnt really suggesting anything other than the fact that I'm running really
badly at the mo.For those interested that first live cash game was in a" night spot"(ha showing my age there)in New
Brighton on the Wirral. It was 1976 I think and was there with two mates,we played very small cash home games at the time,3 card brag,5 card draw and the likes. We would play for hours after the pub and you could win maybe a fiver. We heard
that there was a game going on upstairs and as I was considered that best player of us three we pooled our spare cash and I
sat down with £18 if I remember correctly.Bearing in mind that I was probably earning about £25 a week at the time this was serious money for me.It was 7 card stud with a 50p ante and the table was about 7 handed, the night club owner, local 2nd hand car dealer, taxi company boss and the like, you can get the picture.I remember being very nervous, although full of
dutch courage but the table was quite friendly really.Anyway to cut a long story short I played(and ran lol)really well and after about three hours I stood up with something like £225,quite amazing, this meant £75 for each of us,and remember that was like 3 weeks wages for me.We legged it quick to the local Indian for a ruby and a few more beers,That night started my
bitter sweet love affair with poker and has lead to some fantastic highs and some horrible lows.Continued to play local cash games and spent quite some time in the Liverpool casino card rooms, that was mainly 5 card draw.

Played the very 1st night that NLHE was played at Leos Casino in Liverpool and was soon playing 3/4 nights per week in the
local casinos. Was a winning player for quite some time and made a Genting national final table(£500 buy in)to cash for£3200
but my circumstances changed and now I play live very occasionally.Just playing the lowish stakes on Sky amd PP and moaning about my bad beats lol.
Hope this did'nt bore you too much.
More to follow if you would like to hear it

    Thanks for sharing Dave
    That's a great story
I used to play 3card brag in the pub when I was about 17. I remember it kept me in beer for a whole summer!

Def would like to hear more. Maybe start a new thread and let this one drop off the page?  :)

Yes, post more Dave. More of the latter than the former though. Hope your online luck improves.
