A picture tells a thousand words...

edited April 2017 in Poker Chat
Totally agree with all that. I think it would give the forum new life

It's been asked before though and so I don't see it changing

So could we please be allowed to post them?

The forum can be quiet at times, maybe if people were allowed to post pics it would give the forum a little boost. I think most forums allow you to do this.

I am not sure why there is such resistance to this, it would maybe spice up a few of the diaries etc.

I doubt there are a line of people waiting to post inappropriate content. However even if this is a concern it could be restricted to people who have made X # of posts and/or been a member for so long. If moderating is an issue then a couple of extra posters could be given privledges to close/delete inappropriate content.

    How about it Sky?

Wouldnt it have to be manned 24/7 ? A pic of hhyftrtdr's belly button at 2•30 am could be quite scarey.

Yeah, I have seen it asked for before Jac and not seen much movement on the issue. Would be nice to know what the major issue is though, I don't see many problems on other forums with this. Unless Sky feel we are a troublesome bunch who are sitting with our fingers poised to flood the forum with porn0 pics or something?

@chilling, lol and yeah I guess but it isn't really different from Sky's folk having to keep an eye out 24/7 for Nigerian scammers posting inappropriate written content or whatever. We can post links as it is which I would have thought are potentially more dangerous than pics. Also if the piccy posting priveleges were restricted I find it hard to see there being many/any problems.

I am guessing hhyfftdr's belly button is not too appealing? Have never seen it myself :D

Yep agree, it would be good.

Technically it's a few seconds work to turn off photo pre-moderation (for regular posters) in the Mod Tools back-end which only Sky have access to. It must be that we're not trusted to behave :) Understandable given some of the rubbish you see posted but I'm sure the forum mods could handle it easily (who's doing that these days? Some of the old guys I don't see posting any more).

If you post a picture on a busy thread it's lost three pages back before it gets approved ......like written posts deemed inappropriate they can be removed quickly.
Policing the content of internet sites is in the news right now ;re inappropriate material finding it's way in the back door.  Like the Idea of a Blue Peter badge for reg's .......... sadly I wouldn't get one. !

I don't see why sky can't let all photos be instantly posted. The mods, such as Chris, can delete any offensive photos. Plus if sky adopt a rule like givng a warning for one offensive photo followed by a forum ban for a repeat offense then it could work.

We are all adults at the end of the day.

You couldn't even type 'Punta Cana' on the forum until recently.

Good luck getting free reign over pictures.

I think it's a great idea. It certainly would inject life into the forum. I think we can all be grown-up enough not to post content that would offend so I can't really see it being an issue. What Sky think however may be a different matter?

I agree with 100% with you Marky and it is nice not to be the one doing the asking for once.

My understanding from past questions is that Tikay agrees we should have pics but the suits do not want to allow unmoderated pictures.

I believe that in the current s/w setup forum mods cannot be giving pic approval status hence we have to wait (sometimes a very long time) for a sky employee with special privileges to notice and approve.

There is a ray of hope in that there is a possibility that the site will invest in improved forum s/w which will hopefully solve this issue as well as providing other benefits.

The more that post here in general and asking for pics specifically the more chance it will happen I suppose.

    Fingers crossed.

Yep, because it's part of the back-end software which is only available within their network, rather than being accessible to forum moderators.
