This is good news, joined Sky after these had finished.
Really looking forward to this (hopefully diary allows me to partake).
I heard some grumpy Waitrose shopper once won one of these in Birmingham, I assume there is evidence of this somewhere because it seems far fetched.....
Fantastic. I'll just have to refuse that $9 Million Hhyfty offered me while I try and qualify. Q1 Will there be any smaller side events for any of us who don't qualify and can't afford the buy-in, or do qualify and go busto and want to stay and play? Q2 Will we be allowed to enter the card room if we haven't qualified to rail? Posted by Phantom66
Going from past SPTs, there are usually some smaller comps, maybe £50 BIs, they wouldn't be classed as Sky side events, they'd just be the regular comps that the casino run on a daily basis
As for railing, there's always been a lot of that in SPTs, lots turn up to rail who don't intend to play.
Having said both of those things, I don't recall an SPT ever being held at this venue so I guess there's a chance it could be different, but all the above has been true of the SPTs I've been to.
So very very pleased to hear this news. SPTs were an absolute must on the poker schedule for many of us back in the day.
Manchester 235 is my local casino and for those of you who haven't been there before, you are in for a treat. A really cracking venue and a great place to eat, drink and socialise after the poker.
A real shame that it clashes with Goliath, but naturally I have binned my Goiiath plans for this year and shall be at the NEW SPT ready to collect my trophy on my home turf!

Morning Mark.
1) No, not on this occasion. The cardroom has limited space, & we need to get 200 players into the Main over 2 days, which will use all of the capacity. However, we are hopeful (not a promise) that, later in the evenings on all 3 days, we may get some affordable SNG's going, perhaps hosted by Mr Ambo. Mr Ambo is happy to do this if the tables & playing accessories can be sorted.
2) Yes, of course. It does not matter if you have qualified or not, you are more than welcome to come along just to rail, & to meet the Poker Team.

Thanks Tikay.
I understand re the side events.
It's all irrelevant though because I am going to qualify and at least reach the FT. I was just asking for others :-).
It is expected that most, if not all, of the Sky Poker Team - Sam, Mark, Kirsty, James & Mr Ambo - will all be present at SPT Manchester, from 4th to 6th August. A couple of Blogs will appear shortly, too, one by Mr Ambo, & one by me. Posted by Tikay10
Joking aside, its great news to me anyway and others alike. The spts are returning and it will be great to meet old friends even Tikay, Manchester in August fcuk,im on holiday touring around in the motorhome obvious Manchester area bound with a too say at least a irrate female tagging along. I HOPE I still can believe Sky pulled the plug on them, to try and cater for the bigger market, but glad there back. just hope there not 2 many as 3 or 4 a year is enough in my book, makes them more appealing and you look forward to them more, and 1 in Scotland for the Jocks
Yes!! Time to brush of my legendary quid snogs! Laster longer anyone? Quick question, is it still the case that people forum banned can't attend? See you there pops! Posted by TRIP5
Hi Irene,
I don't actually recall that ever being the case, but no matter, it's water under the bridge now even if true.
Anyone is welcome to attend as far as I am aware, though the Legal bods might be exercised if any Self-Excluded players turned up.

Hi Tikay
GREAT to see the SPT is back, as I've heard so much about how good and what fun it was.
You say "anyone is welcome to attend" ... does that mean 'Anyone is able to play in the tournament, including non-SKY POKER players'?

In theory, yes, but they'd need to obtain a seat first.
There are 2 ways to qualify.
1) Online, via Skypoker.com. (Seats cannot be transferred).
2) The Venue will be allocated a few seats, as is custom. (Pure guess, maybe 20-ish). It's up to them how they use those seats - give them away, sell them, or use them for a Super Sat.
So those are the 2 ways to get a seat.
For the record, Sky Poker would absolutely prefer that the seats were won by Sky Poker players.
Space is tight at this venue, & so there won't be oodles of "spare" seats flying around, looking for a home.
Apologies if that all sounds a little negative (or, as I prefer to say, HAYSIE-ish), but that's the gist of it.

Tikay will the sky seats be via satellite qualification only or will direct buyin be available? Seem to recall the last SPT only priority could buy in direct

Hi Bud,
I'm gonna keep my powder dry on that one for the moment - other than to say that qualification will be by a "variety" of routes, such that as many players as possible get a fair chance of winning a seat.
Full details on SPT will be published soon, but I think Sky want to get Viva Las Vegas over the line first. Which is my sneaky way of reminding everyone that details of how you can win the final Viva Las Vegas 2017 package will be announced at around midnight tonight, or no later than tomorrow morning. And you can get started on qualifying straight away. (After midnight tonight).

Thanks for all your help and info for us 'newbies' TiKay.... can't wait to get started on the sat. route.
Having learnt about SKY Poker thru' watching Mr. Hayes whilst he was 'at work', I can assure you he used to be a very positive person.... maybe he's become a 'grumpy old man' since his retirement !
In Response to Re: The SPT is BACK : Hi Colin. Full details will be revealed soon. Strictly speaking it is a 2 day event, as it will have 2 x Day 1's (Friday & Saturday) with the third day, including the Final, being Sunday. Starting times etc will be confirmed in due course. We are hoping to add a "fun" element, with spot prizes for various things. Sky Bet go 1/4 that you win "Ugliest player". Posted by Tikay10
