Very strange weather in Las Vegas right now.
Earlier this week it was the coolest I've ever known it for this time of year - generally 75f during the evenings, barely 80f during the day.
Now? All change.
Today (Friday) it is forecast to be 107f.
Saturday - 110f
Sunday - 110f
Monday - 113f
Tuesday - 116f
Wednesday 114f

* TEMPERATURE...110-115 for the Las Vegas Valley and other lower
desert areas, 120-125 for Death Valley, 112-122 along the
Colorado River Valley. Locally higher temperatures are
possible.
* IMPACTS...A prolonged period of near record to record heat will
create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are
likely; especially for the elderly, children, homeless, and
those unaccustomed to the heat.
The curious thing about this heat is that all the Casinos are air-conditioned, so the temperature difference between outside & inside can be as much as 50f.
And if that does not bring on a cold or flu, nothing will.
It's really weird having to wear a hoodie indoors all the time, but it gets very cold. Then you step outside, into the inferno, & it's SCORCHIO.
There is a $10,000 WSOP H.O.R.S.E event in progress here in Vegas.
$10,000. Ten Thousand Dollars.
Say it quickly & it does not sound much, but that's a LOT of money in any language.
Now I hear that on top of the $10,000 entry, 38 of the players (THIRTY EIGHT) have chipped in $1,000 each to have a winner takes all Last Longer.
I've taken part in hundreds of Last-Longers, but I don't ever recall chipping in more than £20.
I suppose it is all relative.
I've played 3 MTT's so far.
First up was a $365 at Binions. Was going great until I made a mistimed "move", & that was that, then Greg Raymer applied the finishing touches.
Then I played a $600 PLO8 @ Venetian. 239 entries, of which 24 got paid. I made Day 2 & finished 29th.
Next up was a $600 Big O @ Venetian. 288 runners, & I made Day Two again. 34 were paid, I finished 38th.
Going well then. Send more money.
