challenged to the max

edited March 2010 in Poker Chat
Mentally challenged by pokerstars so thought i'd take my money elsewhere. This seems ok but the field size for games aren't great and the 6 handed tables dont impress me to take my skills into your donkaments however i do say skills with tongue in cheek because the downswing i have suffered is just unbelievable. I was a winning player and + in the money. Buuuuttt life got in the way and i had to take my bankroll out and pay for a baby and things. So all that seen to and comfortable again I thought I would start again to build a bankroll all that has happened is a good old sob story about bad beats and luck and wondering if the software is rigged lol. I have spread sheets and some software to analyse my game and it has shown me that luck plays a 50% factor in hands at vital turning points in a tournement ie: the KK reraise all in to a blind steal and a limp mid position both call 1 gets his ace to hit the other gets his str8 with 78 suited after playing 5 hours outlasting 8,000 runners with around 100 runners left trny over try again ok i accept that so i will try again surely it will change no it happens again again again again oh come on again you get the picture. So my ultimate question about poker life and its universe is: are online poker players mentally challenged for keeping the faith and still falling short (discuss)

The more you play the easier it is to take the beats.  Some days you even win when you are behind. Just keep taking breaks and make sure you play within your means and are always just trying to play your best.

    Gl at the tables :)

Well my online poker experience is definitely mentally challenged everytime I bubble.

I have come to the conclusion that it is not me as a poker player that is mentally challenged, it is other online poker players that are just mental and challenging my insanity lol. (Just Kidding)

I think at some point I was mentally challenged for keeping the faith, however, since I have become more experience in this wonderful game, I now just put it "down to experience" or "It Happens" and move on to the next game or hand. I have learnt that if I let the bad experiences dig away at me, I will never succeed on the tables. Now I just "accept it" "learn from it" and continue to progress.

Don't know weather that makes any sense but "hey" its poker and I love it.

    this is good,

    very good infact, highlighted above

i find it difficult at times to help players that post on here ,

when they say they are losing money,

i find it difficult to figure out at times ,

what makes me a winning player [ not a brag ]

mentally challenge your self in  different categories of poker ,

    play all micro stakes games,

example start with say a tenner or twenty quid ,

now for 2 weeks on cash micro see how you progress,

dont play any other type of game for these 2 weeks only cash micro,

now take account of profit or loss at the end of these 2 weeks ,

now move on to micro double your money for two weeks ,

    do same as above ,

now play mtt for 2 weeks,

then play sit and goes for two weeks,

now gather all you data and see which one suits you best,

now specialise in on this one you have chosen and follow good br management ,

and progress up the buy ins

i think this challenge may suit a lot of players on here ,

players that feel like giving up,

if you read this and think it makes sense,

point players in this direction ty guys/gals

p.s personally i would spend a month on each category .

i have tried and tested this above and made big from it,

if you find the category you are in is getting tough ,

move off and try above .

rover and over and out !
