PTP & The Complicated Comic Book Character Quiz!

edited March 2010 in Poker Chat
Greetings!

At 7pm, it's the season finale of OmaHartigan.  Yes, it's the last Monday evening (for a while) that I'll be spending at the low-stakes PLO cash tables, trying not to lose too much of Rupert Murdoch's hard-earned money.

And, because I love it so, I'll be playing in the £5.5k Bounty Hunter at 8pm.

But you don't care about any of that.  You want to know how you can win FREE entry to tomorrow's 8pm tournament!

Well, please read the following statement and the questions that follow:

There's a comic book character who's been portrayed on screen by three different actors.  These three actors have also appeared in films which feature a game of No Limit Hold'em.

Can you...
a) Name the comic book character?
b) Name the three actors?
c) Name the three films which feature poker?

Please don't post your answers/guesses in this forum thread!  The winner of tonight's contest will be the first person who finds me at the tables AFTER I bust from the BH tournament and gives me ALL SEVEN correct answers in the chat box.

I'll give you one clue: the comic book character isn't Batman.

Good luck :-)

I guess you're not planning to give a prize out tonight James.
Is the cost of the entry coming out of your own pocket?   :-))

lol - you've got more than 8 hours to conduct thorough research (i.e. use Google, IMDb and Wikipedia).

    I'm confident we'll have a winner!

    I'm struggling with this James.

    1) What is a comic-book?

    2) What is an actor.

    3) What is a film?

I've led a very sheltered life. I'm big on pylons, aquaducts & canals though.

    James

    Comic/Movie/Poker related trivia.  Cha-Ching!

Bit of a poser and it took me about twenty minutes or so to get seven answers (I went down a bit of a cul-du-sac with another character).  However I hope my seven answers are wrong and that I've landed some major red herring.  Why do I hope I'm wrong?  Because if mine are right we are going to have a lengthy and ultimately pointless debate as to why they are wrong and I'll just prove myself to be a very sad comic geek who really needs to get out more.

Please someone else get to James before I do....  Please, I'm begging now.....

    Yours truly

    Completely pedantic flag-waving fanboy.

OK...let's get the Omaha ball rolling.  I'm at Bromley - 5p/10p cash table.

    Also at Lewisham.  Same stakes.

You could have made that AFTER part a little clearer to see, the large bold capital letters are just to hard to read

Time for an update on this evening's PTP action...

I had a profitable session at the 5p/10p PLO tables - adding £25 to my bankroll - and enjoyed bantering with Redvers, chirker, Hobster, mabsue, SolarCarro, GREGHOGG, natnat28, BOYDID, Cowgomoo, LADBROKE, IANMAC1, BowieBoy and FishBone.

Not too much to report from the 8pm tournament.  When I was down to 11bbs, I shoved UTG with A9o.  I got snap called by tumble in the BB with QQ.  And then I spiked an A on the flop.  Sorry, tumble!

A few hands later, Hutchy73 made a bold call with second pair when I shoved the flop with an open-ended straight draw.  He was rewarded with my bounty.

Shortly, I'll be back at the PLO cash tables.  And, as I'm out of the BH... :-)

    COMPETITION CLOSED!

Congratulations to TommyD - who was the first person to give me all seven correct answers.

For the record, the comic book character is The Hulk.  The three actors are Lou Ferrigno, Eric Bana and Ed Norton.  The three films are I Love You Man, Lucky You and Rounders.

Look forward to seeing you in Glasgow James, not like those european casinos that are robbed by masked raiders and the people are so friendly, :)

    ps, we don't bite, really.

Well, even though my second stint at 5p/10p PLO was a losing session, I still made a £10 profit tonight.

Thanks to everyone at the tables, especially the "characters" who appeared during the latter half of the evening: wartic, MereNovice, darich, eloudian24, toro666, jimmyboy04, scally02, dragon65, acebarry10, DOHHHHHHHH and TommyD - winner of The Complicated Comic Book Character Quiz!

So, that's it for this season of OmaHartigan.  If you enjoyed it, please inform the powers-that-be :-)

I'm back on PTP duties on Friday.  And I'll be playing Omaha.  Oh!  It seems this isn't the end after all...

Good point, sir.  I hope my weekend in Glasgow isn't as dramatic as my recent trip to Berlin!
