My birthday luck

edited April 2010 in Poker Chat
Decided to try and satellite into tomorrow's 5K BH. Had decided to sit fairly tight for the first few rounds and as nothing came to me I fold, fold, folded easily. Must have played 30+ hands without seeing a flop but didn't really mind. No hands, no pot odds offered and plenty of time to go through the gears and my opponents must have been noticing my tight image which I was planning taking advantage of shortly. Then Biff, Bang, Pow, I was at another table. And about third hand in this happened;

With 2 pairs and 2 limpers I'm not sure I could have played it different.

Bet out after the flop because I was playing tight and didn't want a flush draw around.

Call made me suspect a set but I reckoned my odds were good against that and pocket pair would probably have been raised pre-flop. AK or high pair were my guess.

Turn didn't scare me either. But another flush draw to potentially calling high connectors spaded. So big bet.

By then I'm pot commited and thought I was against AAs - 10,10s. In for a penny, in for a pound.

3-4?! 3 f#ckin 4!!

Did I make any big errors or was this just sheer bad luck?

Then entered a standard texas no'hold knock out them tourney and again didn't get a premium hand for 30-odd again. Got a few chips with 77s and 10,10s but was getting severely short stacked so went all in with Q10. BB, onbviously had AA.

Sometimes, you've just got to admit, it ain't your night.

    And I even get gremlins all over my post.

    Flip side is that I actually found it quite amusing to be knocked out by 3-4.

    At times you just have to laugh.

    5 minutes and my birthday's over. Thank f#ck. Bring on the BH.
