What did I do wrong?

6 - handed. MTT. Blinds = 100/200
I'm on the button w/2100 chips - pocket 8
Position 4 2800 chips

Position 3 - fold
Position 4 (unclear style) raises - 600
Position 5 - fold
Button - call - 600 (Was this the right move?)
SB - fold - 100
BB - fold - 200
POT = 1500

Flop - 6d 3s 9c

Position 4 - raises 650 (What does this tell you?)
Button - All In - 1500
Position 4 - calls

Position 4 turns over J4os

Turn - Jc

River - 10s

What did I do wrong here? Would you have played it differntly? What would you have done?

    it tells me they were bluffing the flop and got lucky on the turn!!

    a bit like this hand although at least the other guys had a nice flush and straight flush draw!! ;)

    ExLeper, maybe one thing you could have done differently;

    On the button, with 10 big blinds, it really is not the time to be calling any raises, it's purely about trying to get your chips in, either with a hand, or pick a nice spot to shove first - with anything!

    So, I think when the raise to 600 comes in pre-flop, you have to decide whether you want to:

    a)Put all your chips in. This is still a susbtantial raise, and almost all of your opponents stack, which means you have a nice amount of fold equity,
    b)Whether you want to fold.

    Either a raise or a fold is a fine play in this spot, but I don't think ever calling here is a good decision, I'm afraid.


    On the flop, you made the only decision you could with that board, but after his bet, he was obliged to call, and - unfortunately - he got lucky.


    Next time, all you have to do is either push all in, or pass pre-flop.
