Need some advice for playing in a live £250+£25 deepstack

edited April 2010 in The Poker Clinic
Hi guys,

So I won a satellite to above tournament last night (Alea Leeds btw) and could really use some tips.

I've hardly got any live deepstack experience and to be honest I have never played a 'Main Event' as it were - I usually just play smaller tournaments and cash games at my local casino.

Any pointers you can give me? Should I loosen up during the early stages?

Dan

    Hey mate..

Well done on winning a seat into this tourny. Sounds like a good'en! How much you satellite in for?

In the way of playing the tournament, If it was me I would be getting in cheap early on in position. If I am able to see a cheap flop with connectors or suits then I'd have a look..When it gets a bit later I would be switching up my game a lot more and start playing the premium hands. If your sitting in late position and it's been folded round or just 1 limper then I'd be looking to make a nice x3 raise to see if I am able to take the blinds and even get position and out play the limper on the flop/turn...

Just play your game and Im sure you will go deep mate...

Good luck and let me know how you do!
