Who would you pick for the 23 man England squad?

Forget reputations. Name the 23 men you think should go to the World Cup based on their performances this season.

Right, this should be fun ;)

    LOL Dave, instead of flaming you...why dont we take your 23 man squad as a template and bid how many of them WILL NOT be on the plane.

    I reckon you could have 7 on that list who will be watching on the telly!!!!!!

    Jagielka, Huddlestone, Parker and Bent go ahead of Carragher, Carrick, Hargreaves and Heskey on form and performances this season - I'd have balance of Jagielka, Parker, Huddlestone and Heskey if we're talking for the good of the squad though! Terry, Ferdinand and Gerrard have had average seasons by their standards but they're three of our nucleus so get the nod ahead of form but lesser quality players - if Barry's injured, his place in squad goes to Carrick!

    This is the thing I am trying to avoid ;) I am a Liverpool fan but if you didn't know who Gerrard was and you went to watch him this season could you honestly say he's been better than say Michael Carrick? I'd struggle to say yes.

    Hence why I picked a weird squad with Matty Taylor, who's form I would say has been pretty decent - he's an unfashionable player at an unfashionable club, but he's been one of the best players at Bolton this year and I think he would have done a good job for some of the bigger sides too. He also has a left foot, which is saying something for an Englishman!

    Completely agree with you - there's at LEAST 7 who will be sitting at home. All I am asking is if you were choosing the squad on form alone and not reputation who would you put in there? Personally I think my squad isn't too far off the best form 23 in England this season...

    Based on form only. Obviously Gerrard will be picked in the squad as will others that have had an average season. Was trying to find a place for Stuart Downing, who's a player i really like but i thought the other midfielders had been better. Same for Matt Taylor.

    Phil Neville, Roger Johnson, Matthew Etherington, Jamie O'Hara & David Dunn all had very good seasons but none of them will need their passport this summer!!

    Surely if its on from dave Carragher shouldnt be no where near the squad???? he had a ngihtmare at the beggining on the season and has only slighlty improved throughout...will post my team a little later need to think about this

    Agreed that was gonna be my comeback to Dave! Carragher, Taylor, Young etc wouldn't get near the squad if purely on this seasons form which is why I included Terry, Rio, Gerrard in mine! Let's face it, those three off form are still better than majority of the in form players mentioned...even an alien would know that! :-)
