Unfortunately I think they probably will end up going straight back down but one thing's for sure, they won't go without a fight.
For now though they should enjoy tonight. I remember when we beat Preston a few years back in Cardiff. I don't think I've ever had a hangover so bad than I did after that night.
In Response to Well Done to Blackpool : Bloomin hell DT, lol 5 mins afta they've had one of the greatest days in the club history, you put a bit of a downer on it, give em 24hrs at least Posted by -TARAS-
sorry m8 they were on about it on sky sports so i thought i'd ask the forum
Congratulations Blackpool and in particular, Ian Holloway! For years he's been loved by neutrals and headline writers for his one liners etc and attitude but now he's getting the recognition his managerial skills deserve - one of the most underrated managers in the country (because of his "wackiness") but let's be honest, if his name had Itialian/Spanish/Portuguese twang to it, he'd be the greatest thing since sliced bread in terms of bigger clubs looking at him! Anyone seen his post match interview in the dressing room? Inspirational to say the least...
It's going to be exceptionally difficult for them to survive but relegation shouldn't be bad thing - too often it's considered failure if clubs like Blackpool/Burnley go straight back down but they've got £90 million coming their way (inc parachute payments over next 4 years) to invest into the club at all levels...in five years time, the money they invest now could be the foundations to establishing themselves as Premiership club! One expensive but short reign or cautious approach that gives club financial strength for decades? I know what I'd take if I was Blackpool fan!
The Chairman, fans and media's expectations will undoubtedly rise but it's important the players who got promotion get chance alongside some young signings who can grow with the club rather than expensive journeymen! If that means relegation, that's surely better than chasing the dream like Hull and Portsmouth who didn't see finishing 17th every season as great achievement...they've spent money they didn't have which could mean being crippled for years! It's better to be WBA, coming up every other season with money in the bank than teams like Southampton etc who've been left in the wilderness for years after severe mismanagement...hope Blackpool succeed where others have failed!
I cannot wait for the fixture list to come out to see when Stoke play them away, happy days....jolly boys week end that one!
Stoke were favs to be relegated when we went up but we are just about holding our own.It was the same for every promoted club last year and look how well Brum did.
I think the smaller clubs should be encouraged to do well as this is what the game of football is all about IMHO and not just the bigger clubs with all the money (or debt) and the game going into being just a big commercialisation venture
