Hartigan's favourite films?

edited June 2010 in The Shed
Couldn't find an entry from him in the fave film thread.

Which is kinda disapointing considering the subject is the only thing he's got close to being famous about :-) Close, but no Jonathon Ross Jamesy, lol.

I love Dead Man's Shoes. I love Sexy Beast. Both British and pretty much my two favourite films. Tarntino's better possibly, but Tarrantino's Tarrantino. A couple of Japenese ones are utterly fantastic too and I love Casino and less so Rounders but there ain't much else that is good IMHO. 96% of films are absolutely terrible.

Name a good one out this year Hartigan? The Road at a push and I can think of no others? Terrible year for films?

No, I don't think it's a terrible year for films.  Off the top of my head, here are five I've really enjoyed...

Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire
    Un Prophete
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
    Kick-Ass
    Bad Lieutenant

There have been some turkeys (especially Iron Man 2), but I can find something in most motion pictures that I like.  I have to say, the assertion that "96% of films are absolutely terrible" implies cinema is not your favourite medium!

Oh, and for the record, here's my list...

Today, I'd probably replace Dr Strangelove with Francois Truffaut's Les 400 Coups :-)

Just watched Kick-Ass recently and it is fantastic.

Another brilliant one I watched lately The Human Centipede. But it is not for the faint hearted.

    Cheers J.

Precious was one I was waiting to see. Forgot about that one. Will love-film the rest m8 and come back.

Nope, "96% of films are terrible", might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I get really disappointed with them at times. I love the genre like you. But I really think most are terrible. When a good one comes, which admittedly is only my taste, I think I can tell. And Jonathon Ross offered me the job, not you ;-).
