Sky Poker Forums is upgrading its look! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
Balla Bracelet for the Brits! And a FREE ENTRY Caption Comp.
You could not make it up.
Brit James Dempsey, well known as a serial Online Tourney grinder for over 10 years in various guises, latterly "Royal Flush", won a Bracelet in Vegas yesterday!
What's more, the NLHE specialist won his Bangle in PLHE - Pot Limit, which many consider to be the ultimate test of skill as to betting formats, & which, in recent years, the Brits have specialised in.
James, who lives in Brighton, & who at one time shared a Flat with the Brit double Bracelet winner J P Kelly, does not exactly GIQ, & the rail in Vegas was good-humoured but VERY loud & boisterous, several of them being ejected Haysie-style as the football-style chanting got liouder & louder!
James is seriously balla too, & the Vegas bars had better stock up on champagne, as Flushy & Co are already on the razzle.
James until quite recently laid out as much as $30,000 per week playing Online Poker Tournaments, & had a serious world-ranking, but of late the "golf bug" has bitten him hard.
He does not play very much Live Poker, (& when he does, you hear him!), and this is his first big B & M score. He's a regular in the Tourneys at Brighton Rendezvous, & he terrorises the Omaha cash game there, too. James raises EVERY hand in PLO! We played 6-card Omaha high there one night, & I ran a bluff (remember, this was SIX card Omaha) & he snap-called my river bet, on a K-K-Q-J-T board with a lowly pair of 7's - which was good! To those who understand the nuances of the 6 card game, that's almost unimaginable.
James has been on the 865 Show several times, enligtening players with his incisive analysis, & once he returns to the UK, you can be pretty sure he will be on the Channel again. In fact, we chatted at length this morning, & he has agreed to come on the Show again "if invited" (lol!), AND he will give us an in-depth exclusive interview for the Website whilst we are in Vegas.
As many of you know, James & I are the majority shareholders in an alternative Poker Forum & Website. James actually owns 65% of it, but he leaves the running of it to others, & we just get him to send us some money when we are skint. Which is quite often.
James will be back in the UK in mid-July, in time for the big Live Poker Fessie at Brighton Rendezvous. By which time, he may have won another bangle. You never know!
Many many congrats to James, I'm absolutely delighted for him.
Finally, FREE ENTRY to this week's "Take-on-Tikay, on Friday, for the best caption entry for this photo, which features James listening to advice from his poker hero. I think the photo was taken in Brighton during the 2008 GUKPT.

" And then she called me. SHE called ME. Didnt she realise it was ME. With A J. Called ME"
James "Well i don't keep em down there !"
WD to James great result
That's a rubbish caption Vince. lol.
"Thats what you get if you ask to Take-on-Tikay, say sorry and I will pull it out."
I THOUGHT IT WAS RICH ORFORD GIVING ME ADVICE NOT TK ?
FlushyFish wins a bracelet. Well I never, I am so, so, pleased for James. Seriously, James has been a force to be reckoned with for many years online and was a stalwart of the Tribeca days.
Best news for a long time and couldn't be deserved more.
p.s. I still reckon he's a fish.
'' Please Tony, not the full rendition of the 1848 Great North Western Railway Timetable again''
This is not the convention for Great UK Passenger Trains.
when i was new to poker about four years i played a tourney at rendevous in brighton i felt i was in control of a weakish table, then a slightly hammered james sat to my right and pretty much won the tournament in 45 minutes railroading the table
hyper aggresive and very very good
