There's a fair amount of analysis to do straight away but I think it's better to ask the questions and make the observations in the right logical order

OK not too cheap then, obviously the really cheap games the answer is because no one ever folds a pair.

    2nd question

Why do you think he should have folded?
  • edited June 2010

problem with bluffing here is that  he pot controls the turn so river is alwas going to be a smallish bet, unless you decide to overbet. also he can have flushes & straights in his range too so i dont really like it that much anyhow. just fold preflop!

well I bet the straight draw also one over card all not bet until the river someone with pair of tens should be seriously thinking their behind or not?

But if you flopped a straight you slow played it too slow - ie you would have been wrong to check rather than get money in the pot

If you flopped a gutshot (which you did) then he was giving you the wrong odds to hit (which isn't hard as it's so unlikely to hit)

Strange as it may seem, most people will give you credit, so what check calling probably conveyed was that you'd hit top pair with a weaker kicker, and checking on the turn probably confirmed this.

Preflop: (in the nicest possible way) what were you thinking?

nb and if he thought you were on a draw it would have been a flush draw

If he thought that then the river bet would have just looked like a desperate bluff

I may have been giving him too much credit for thinking you'd hit a weak pair

cheers BelovedLtd nice to see another side which should make us better players

There's a lot more to analyse than that :D
Go on go on go on

Preflop: (in the nicest possible way) what were you thinking?

Or to make it slightly shorter

What was your plan when you called preflop and what was your plan when you called the flop bet?
  • edited June 2010
the second hand is a super fist pump, do a little dance snap call btw.
