Can't work out how to add words to the hand history, so......

Should have raised pre-flop, but would probably still have been called, but how should I have played the hand once the Q came on the turn? Should I have shoved there?

raise preflop bet flop, bet turn shove river. you dont want to shove the turn because you want him to call with worse hands and he is not likely to do so if its a huge overbet.

if you raise pre to 150 the pot size across all streets will go like:
preflop: 350  flop:850  turn:1850  and when you get to the river you have 1200 left so is an easy shove and will get called alot more often by worse hands than a huge overbet

Think you have already answered your own question. Its often tempting to try and see a cheap flop with these good suited connectors. But unless you flop the flush or flush draw its hard to play post flop if you simply limp in.

Standard 3BB preflop raise gives you so many more options after any flop. If you hit str8 or flush draw you have a far better chance of getting paid. If you miss the flop, but it comes A or K high, a strong Cbet will probably take it down.

When the flop came down Qhigh, the same strong Cbet may not get through, but firing the other barrel on the turn would be almost impossible for him to call.

The only way you could lose the hand is if he shoves against your Cbet post flop, when you would have the chance to reassess, and get away much more cheaply if you dont fancy it.

Obviously if he comes over the top pre flop you would be out of the hand there and then for only 150 chips.

Thanks for the help. Made the same mistake again a couple of nights later and got creamed again. 3 bet and C bet pretty much every more marginal hand I've played since that and it's going a lot better. Cheers.
