Omaha Week?

Hi Dan

I know that tikay has said when he gets back, he will be more than happy to play some Omaha, both cash an tournaments, and advertise them probs on facebook and maybe twitter, so this should drum up some support for Omaha.

    I've been thinking about ways to get Omaha buzzing after it's stumbling start! When it first appeared, some people tried it and seemed to enjoy the change of scene but now the novelty factor has worn off, it's been neglected by all but select few! People have tried their best and generated some interest but should we extend that even further? Once the WSOP has finished and everyone's recharged their batteries/got their breath back, could we find week in the diary that's entirely dedicated to Omaha? Here's some suggestions to drum up interest/get people playing during that week:

    Bigger Guaranteed Main Events: We know it can't be shown on TV for technical reasons (probably one of the main causes as it doesn't reach the masses) but guarantees always attract people. It'll probably enrage some (look at the feelings towards rebuys) but maybe replace certain popular Hold Em tournaments each night with Omaha and advertise them all over the site and TV channel? Buy in's around £1-£3 so people won't be too worried about losing money on game they don't fully understand but with bigger guarantee (might need some overlay...love you Bernie) to make them play!

    Take-on-Tikay/PTP Omaha: There's been some PTP Omaha nights in the past (cash and tournament) that seem to be successful so for the week, every PTP night is Omaha? Get mini league running each night with little prize at end for the best performer overall (Mere/Tikay have run something like this before) to encourage more people to sign up!

    Omaha Freerolls: There's always people asking for more/complaining about freerolls so here's the chance to get hold of the 700+ players who play them every night. Take away the regular Hold Em freerolls for the week and those who want their freebie will have to look at Omaha, hopefully getting their interest to play long term!

    Omaha discussions with UK's finest: We've got some great Omaha players in the UK (Tikay's got some connections) so much like the De Wolfe/Marty Smyth Hold Em/SnG tutorials in the past, get some Omaha discussions going with familiar faces like Channing/Dempsey/Ashby - if nothing else, it'll highlight Omaha does actually exist on the site so after seeing some of the best explaining things, people might go for it!

    If anyone can think of other suggestions/ideas please add them to this thread and in time, I'll make Rich etc aware to see if something can be arranged!

    Sweet that's great Barry...thanks for adding that and hopefully with the great mans help, Omaha will pick up again!
