In for a check one player to act behind me, not exactly a perfect hand but how much should i bet to find out where i am?

I'd bet about 2/3 of the pot here, so 8p. For what it's worth, in those instance where I decide I want to lead with a Q rather than just check, I'd also make it 8p so players don't begin understanding what the various bet sizes mean.

You shouldn't bet 'to find out where you are'. You should bet to get value or to bluff people off better hands, in doing so you also get information from your opponent by how they react.

Here i'd bet 2/3 pot, KJ J9 underpairs can cawl you.
