How to make useful notes on opponents
That's it really...anyone?
I find when i first started eva playing poker I would make notes...then months later i would click a note to find something like "omg..sooo annoying!"...ok well that was no help! hahahaha
Whilst I now make slightly better notes i sometimes find myself a little stuck as i dont have a good system to quickly jot things down to make sense to me later.
So...all note takers, please help us newbie note takers as it is obviously quiet important but so easy not to do.
Thanks

when they pot 100% of pot compared to 50% pot.
for example notes I may have on a player would be something like this
c-c x3 OOP TPTK (check called all streets out of postion with top pair top kicker)
I know now that they are not c-r with there tp hands OOP, so when i flop 2 pair or better I know to value bet bigger because there is more chance I am in front. the times they do c-raise me I can fold my weaker holdings because I know I will not be ahead.
Notice how i shorted the note as well, you dont want long notes as they take too much time to read.
also if you see someone stack off 100bb with hands like AJ or AQ, make a note, so you can 3bet call a shove lighter.
dont make notes like "3bet AA", "call all in KK pre" because these are standard, and notes dont need to be written down.
Make notes with date and time stamps - people change over time.
Also, people play the same hand in different ways.
however we aren't using notes as something to use as a cast iron read that villain xyz plays a NFD strong OOP or whatever. we use them as an aid to a villains general tendencies. they won't be right 100pc of the time, but we use them if they can give us an edge. much like live tells.
ok, thanks for the reply Harvey, Merekat and Scott (and Logdon lol)...I find my notes can be a jumbled mess that I dont understand soometimes.
I like the idea Harvey of shortening the notes with letters such as TPTK but I will deffo have to jot it down on a notepad also as I'll forget what the letters mean until I'm in the swing of it.
Also Merekat and Scotty the time thing would be dead useful also as I found very odd notes that I must have put on here AGES ago by the way they were written and the player could now be playing totally different!
I think notetaking can be so easy to miss so from today I am gonna try to get some sort of easy to use system to help when I'm in a sticky situation! lol
Thanks again everyone x
Logdon...think Id also prefer the £20 notes too!
right...think a little sulk is in order before I go back to play, this poker stuff is soooo much fun but sooo frustrating at the same time!
Now I will have to try to change my game if I can! LOL
I bumped into my very first note on Sky two weeks ago on a NL4 table.
The Note said
"Hit four card flush with KK to beat my KK all money in pre, get em"
I sat back and thought, wow i must have had too much to drink.
Has anyone ever taking notes on a player theyve met live? I watched a guy do it the other day at the casino, much rather like how Gus Hansen does it sometimes into that little radio thing.
I later asked him if it helped him and he said he'd go home listen to it back and he has a whole book on players hes met. How they play, how to beat them etc.
