Quite early in a DYM so no real reads and no previous notes on the player. Theres one over plus the AQ/Q9 straight potentiallity. Hes called re-raise on flop which was to find out where i was and check called turn. If he has a K i dont think id get him off it.

What is the correct play here.

I got an idea yes, he was either on a draw or maybe 10 J or A 10 or JJ or another smaller under pair.

I would have expected a re-raise over the top again. If anything by the river i had him on a set of jacks or jacks up. I will state now i got this incorrect.

WAS HE ON A FLUSH DRAW?

dnt get these weird min raises on the flop don.

The betting patterns to me suggest u arent sure where u are in the hand, if I was ur oppo id be putting some heat back on u on that flop.

If its a dym - I wudnt be value betting. If it's a cash game, I wud.

He cud have JQ/AJ hearts these kinda hands which will pay u, and never raise.

pre is good, flop is badish turn is bad, river is a check.

I indeed checked inbehind the river.

Upon seeing my opponents cards i was slightly speechless to say the least, how i got paid on the turn ill never know.

He had two black 8's by the way.

Oh and DoHHHHH it is a DYM

Shouldn't be value betting in DYM unless 100% here which i dont thin you was here, the fact you say you put him on JJ on the river why would you value bet if your behind? no-ones ever folding a set either so check due to your reads and hope for showdown value as you have done

On the actual hand, pre raise fine. On flop dont really find anything out by min-raising anyones calling you in this spot and even with a weak king here so bet pot especially as you dont want to give someone who is on the flush draw the odds or too good odds to call. The turn is where you need to decide whether he has a king and give up or try to get to showdown cheaply as possible or whether you will give up if any resistance. As it happens you were fine here but could easily have let in someone with a small pair, king or many hands that are beating you.
