    Thank you DOHHHHHHH for your input, i think 1 day you should drop into our little tournament and play.I think only then can you question if it needs to be better , for a lot of people who play these tournaments it is not just about how much money you can win its about having a very good game of poker instead of playing BINGO as so many of the other tourenaments are on Sky.

    I played it last night, and spoke to some players on the table, asked why it is only £100 gtd when it regularly gets 50+ runners? (more than double the guaranteed PP)

    £250 guaranteed wud encourage even more players to play.....more play in the tourny (will last longer) and more money for the winner.

    If u guys are happy with smaller fields then kool - I didnt even consider this wud be a positive.....

    Anyway, just an idea, sky need to start being pro-active, rather than reactive.

    Will be playing more of these deepstacks over the next week in preparation for next thursdays £220 league final.

    Hopefully tomorrow I will get above my starting stack - good luck.

    Edit - just re-read the posts aimed at me, jeeeeez u aint half a touchy lot aint ya!!! 
    To me bigger is better, that is why I thought u were running these leagues, to boost numbers. The people I spoke to seemed chuffed that last friday there was 75 runners - bigger guarantee and this cud be every night.
    Btw I never commented on the structure. It is good. And has nothing at all to do with my idea to boost runners.

    Very good post Dohh, I can't see how people can be against higher guarantees which will obviously increase numbers and the prize pool. Imo sky don't do enough with regards to maximising numbers, and often the actual prize pool exceeds the guarantee for several weeks before its adjusted.

    And kiwini4u how is having a good structure and a fair guarantee mutually exclusive?

     Think the point people are trying to make is that increasing the guarantee will probably bring in a few more players but there is concern amongst people that it would turn into more of the bingo poker that is played in the other tournys on here.
     As you saw the other night (hopefully!) the standard of play is pretty good in these tournys and as kiwi says there are quite a few good players in them. However when you get people who are used to the other sky formats shoving with air for 250 bb it takes a lot of the play out of the ds.
     We are a pretty welcoming lot in these 2 tournys and would defo welcome more players. but to be honest we like it the way it is due to the general lack of the all in merchants who populate a lot of the lower buy in tournys.
     It was me who was quite chuffed that there were 75 runners on friday but the majority of the extra people were regulars who have played ds games before.

     Hope this explains why it seems the extra guarantee would not necesarrily be welcomed

    I take your point about the gamblers/fish - but the structure means that these guys will be exposed, you have hundreds off big blinds, in the main tournys, ur lucky if you have 10 after the first hour.

    Loads of time to pick spots against the fish in deep-stacks.

    But each to their own, Im still gonna win tomoro ;)

    Errrrr. I beg to differ lol - It's got my name all over it.

    8.15 £100GTD History
    Just to give everyone a little history on this tourny - Over 12 months ago the gtd prize pool was £150, after a lot of promotion by IRISHROVER (Dennis) the numbers grew and Irishrover asked sky if they could increase the gtd prizepool and they obliged by increasing the gtd prize pool to £250 based on the number of entrants it was getting.

    Some time later for one reason or another the numbers started dwindling. A few players had moved to the cheaper £2.20 deepstack and Irishrover also stopped playing on the site so no longer continued to do the promotion of the tourny. As time went on the numbers continued to dwindle and thus the gtd prize pool was reduced to £150 and then £100.

    Bornablade suggested trying to run a league which was very succesful and increased the numbers. The following month he said he would run the league again and a few players also asked if we could run a 7.15pm £2.20 deepstack league as well. I now help running the 7.15 deepy and Bornablade runs the 8.15 deepy and Mon, Wed and Fridays and on these nights the numbers have continued to increase and on occasions has over 70-80 entrants.

    I agree that it wouldn't do any harm to increase the gtd prize pool based on the current numbers we are getting, however, sky have done this for us before, so for this to happen again we need to continue the leagues and the promotion of these two tournies and maybe one day they might take notice again.

    Cheers Trev for the final update and notification of finishing places.Well done on your runners up spot and congrats to my mate Stokey in 3rd place!.  

    I have enjoyed these games, and on the whole, there has been some great play and banter throughout. I hope we get to do this again and a few more people play in the next one.
